Wihout reducing the quality to much I have a gif image (size 233kb) that I want to reduce to around 100kb, can anyone help.

Thanks for the ideas, I have tried Boltbait's suggestion and this has worked for me. Because the symbols that i'm inserting a very small the off white colour I have used still looks white. I have attached the image for you to have a look at if your interested, in jpg format.

Thanks for the quick reply, I followed the steps you have suggested and for some reason the image is still transparent. White just seems to always show up as transparent.

I'm inserting custom symbols into MapInfo, the images for the symbols must be bmp's. I originally used paint to manipulate the image's with white in certain places but when I insert this image in MapInfo it becomes tranparent. I have downloaded a copy of Paint.Net and had a play with this but I'm still getting the same result? What do I need to do to created a bitmap image where the white doesn't become transparent?
