Try, when smudging, to use colors that aren't even in the render/stock. Then when you do color adjustments at the end use Filled Color Layers set to different opacitys/blend modes to blend them together. This will help on your monotone tags.

Try something other then soccer sigs. 99% of your gallery looks the same to me, because I don't follow soccer and I don't plan to. But then again, my gallery is all sigs so oh well.

Clipping Masks. On a black background, brush with your splatter brushes, where you want there to be clippings. Then save as mask.png or whatever.. then duplicate your flattened sig and run alpha mask using the mask.png file that you saved earlier. Voila, clippings.
