dont get discouraged just have fun with it
I was going through some of my sketches and came across a few i dont think ive shown you guys yet (could be wrong).
There all 100% PDN, no wacom just the line/curve tool.
-
yeah but i had just asked a question so i wasnt sure, wat ev .
I personally like that the color scheme doesnt follow any specific rule.
Thanks ^_^ I was going for that "OMG where the F am I?" kinda look.
well you did a good job of that
every artist looks at art differently, so dont get discouraged if one person doesnt like it or watever.
it really comes down to this: if you like it, then its right.
arts not like math where the answer to 2+2 always equals 4, sometimes in art 2+2 adds up to 6 8 or even 12.

I mean this in the most polite way possible.
I know it was a lot of hard work, and that usually is what it's about, but try aiming for something that is both appealing to the eye and advanced. And the color scheme is all messed up...
im not sure who your talking to lego.
are you talking to me?
I'm pretty sure he's talking to me on that one, lol. *hint*messed up colours*hint* lol.

Lets see how your plugin work out when it's more polished.
And, by the time comes the PDN 4.xx
Users might be using the built in Brush system.
And you would've spent time making a new forum that not many will visit anymore.
i agree, maybe you could create a free web page off yahoo or something, and get permission to link every ones files to that. Then you could kinda organize the files, and they would all be on one page.

Here is a sample of some inset text used in Mac OS X and Apple's website.
Tutorial worthy?
Looks good drew, but i would have to say no on the tut, its a pretty simple button to make, just some gradients, but keep up the good work.
Don't try so hard to create tuts, just draw and have fun, ull know if something is tut worthy.
Keep up the good work.
Kevin
Edit:
A sig I made. I think it looks pretty good. Not great but ya... >.>Looks good kreeos, i really sigs like that, it looks simple at the first glance but there is really more to it when you look closer.
Looking good.

edit:

^^Large image so i posted the url.
Im still working on this background, Im almost done! at least i think .
Im stuck on what to put in the middle (the white space on in the middle of the page). I was thinking maybe a maze of pipes or something but I'm not really sure how to go about it. Any suggestions? (feel free to take the image and mess around with it)
Thanks
Kevin
EDIT
Thanks Ash for creating the brushed metal texture in the background.

oh wow k.d, that's really helpful, did not know that existed!
that will help a lot for things I don't have a model for
Any time , but ed deserves the credit

beautiful ash , how did you create that? i had some ideas in my head on how to make the texture but everything i tried didnt looking quite right .
Thanks

well i hit kind of an artistic block with this drawing, im starting to get moving again. Im working on coloring the gear in the bottom right corner. I really didnt have a method of going at this, i just kinda started to color , what do you guys think? i dont want to finish the piece and for it turn out garbage.
edit: hmmm, that kinda stinks, a lot of the texture disappeared when i turned it into a jpg, o well.

@k.digennaro - I think it also depends where you think you want to take this picture - I mean - do you want it to be a kind of abstract with brushwork? or do you want it to be all gradient based metal? Anyways - you're already off to a good start - it's going to be sweet when finished.
[/url]
Im trying to make it a brushed metal abstract kinda look. I like just kinda free flowing drawings and not really having a plan for them, then sit back and watch it come together
-
I don't think borders would look good on a desktop background. And why not experiment with the colour of the gears.
okay, thanks sabrown

I like the gears i drew, Im not so sure about the colors on the gears or even about how its arranged.

Welcome, give me just a minute I'm going to try to dig up an old thread, it had a link on how to draw and color sprites, I think it was pokeman sprites, but it's the same concept.
edit: Wow! That time I actually found what I was looking for .

Here's the original thread.

*First off I want to apologize if I got this is the wrong area of the forum, I haven't posted many posts like this and am still unclear whether they go in the pictorium or in GD.
I'm working on a background for my pc and I need to create what i call a 'brushed metal' texture, I'm not sure how to go abouts this.
In 'example 1' I've shown the shape of the texture of the metal (that might be unclear), It kinda spirals in wards. I created some of the lines for the texture but its a pain staking process, I'm not sure if theres a way to recreate this with a plug in? Maybe draw some lines then use the Twist plug in?
In 'example 2' it shows the actual texture I'm going for. This is what I'm trying to create.
Thanks for any input!
Kevin
edit:
I'm not sure if this helps at all or not, but here's what I was able to create, different color scheme but a similar pattern, but its not quite right, it doesn't spiral inwards like the example.
edit:
Does any one have any ideas?
-
It is already built-in to Paint.NET.
Layer -> Rotate / Zoom
Roll the "ball" on the left.
let me see if i can dig up this plug in, some one was working on a prospective helper plug in, and they posted the unfinished version, leme see if i can find it.
hmmm, still looking but heres a screen shot from my PDN.

The author of Drop Shadow will need to publish an update. Plugins are no longer allowed to reference classes inside of PaintDotNet.exe (they weren't really supposed to before 3.30 either, but there was nothing preventing them, nor any documentation warning against it).
hmmmm, i see, so basically the plug ins that did this will now have to be updated?
That makes sense.
Thanks for the quick response.

o oops, here ya go
File: C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects\Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.dll
Effect Name: Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowEffect
Full error message: System.MethodAccessException: PaintDotNet.ColorWheel..ctor()
at Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowConfigDialog.InitializeComponent()
at Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowConfigDialog..ctor()
at Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowEffect.CreateConfigDialog()
at PaintDotNet.Menus.EffectMenuBase.RunEffect(Type effectType)
edit: i see that a couple people had this problem with the drop shadow, but its been happening on and off with some other plugins as well.
-
im sorry i put it in the wrong forum, heres the crash (below) its the one you get when ever a plug in crashes.
-
I installed 3.3, now my plug ins have been crashing, not all of them, it started with Sharpen +, now sharpen + is working, but every time i try to use Drop Shadow, i get the plug in error message.
Ive tried reinstalling the plug ins and no luck. Any one know whats going on?
Thanks

I mean the blocks of white lines.
ooo, wat should i put ther? it seems like it needs something to give it some depth. I was going to put buttons on those. Maybe it will look better once i do.
The backgrounds of all the panels should be white. And gradients that are barley noticable look better than solid colours. But all gradients should have the same hue.
okay thanks, ill mess around with that a bit.

thank you , once i got the idea in my head of how to do it, it was actually quite simple, if you can teach yourself to break things down you can draw anything.
If it lets me attach this you can read this, i never did finish it because some people said it was to basic, but its amazing how many people over look the simplest things.
