ouch harsh oma, here are the answers #1, maybe i should be write this rule, i didnt mean you couldnt look at anything, just that you cant copy it, you cant draw just wat you see, it has to become yours some how. #2,the only grid allowed i think you should be the one built into PDN when you zoom in, i understand wat your saying about artists and wat not, but you also said they draw ther own and erase them, feel free to do that, also feel free to use the grid that build into PDN (let me no if this doesnt make sense, im trying) #3, blending is fine if you do it your self, i.e. gradients or transparency, i was even thinking about saying no gradients unless you hand made them, but that was a harsh thought. please let me know if you have a way to clarify these into the rules^^ i thought it was clear but i guess not, im struggling with this, although i think its getting clearer then at first.

i had the same problem i think hes having, AU wouldnt update SP2 on my pc, going to the website does basically the same thing, but it should work, i acutally had to order the cd on one of my pcs because of AU, it worked and was free, just had to wait for the cd

The concept of the contest is to express art work through your own talent and only your own, I understand how much talent it takes to use some of these plug-ins and such, but I believe is a different sort of talent. There-fore the purpose of this contest is to free hand drawings on PDN then vote on whose you like the best. My definition of free handing is: you may only use the pencil tool, lines/curves. Then I'm going to allow the gradient tool because its a convince. Then of course the paint bucket etc.. Every week a topic will be decided by the community, this first one i will choice to show an example and to get things started. The PDN Free-Hand Drawing Contest Rules! When i drew my picture i didnt draw a background or clean it up cus i didnt think any one else was going to, boy was i wrong. I didn't know you had broken one it just wasn't pleasant to look at. im not 100% sure which rule i broke, boltbait said he was going to delete it so i thought id just fix it and not cause a scene, he said that it was just to violent for a family friendly forum, i was a lot of brothers and sisters, so i under stood that and im not going to question it

im really struggling with writing these rules to be under stood clearly, it seems like some people kinda figured them out but it needs to be clarified, basically i want it to be a contest which involves hand drawings, i.e. the pencil tool and the line curve tool. No stocks or models. Oma youve been around here a lot longer than me maybe you or some one else has some ideas to specify these rules. Thanks kevin

^^^thanks oma, i can see why people were the disgusted by the zombie, but i really do want to understand how it broke the rules, simply because i want dont want to do it again, i didnt really intend on breaking the rules, i just created the picture without thinking twice. ^^never mind bolt bait gave me an answer i understand, my apologies (i blame it on oma and ash! they told me to try my hand at rendering and using effects , haha just kidding i take responsibility for it) ill have to think of wat else i can add my my av, i love my new sig, but it doesnt match so maybe ill make a new sig

^^^Same thing as he said, basically wat your doing is rotating the image, meaning everything you see, on the tool menu click layers then rotate zoom, thats wat david said he just gave you the short cut

very nice, my only suggestion is the hair isnt just an outline, the ladies hair is just kinda filled it, it gets pulled off in this image, but maybe add some lines that show the flow of the hair, this would make it look for realistic, but very nice!

I havent done realistic portraits on the computer since i did them on MS paint, which took years to finish one. I'm trying to draw my friend, and im having a hard time, basically all the parts separate look good but putting it together is hard. The hair i really struggled with, but im not to disappointed how it turned out. something just doesnt look right to me, maybe with some better coloring it will look good. please gimi some input. edit: it looks like an old lady kinda, thats not wat im going for edit: maybe shape 3D would be good for this but i cant really get shape 3D down, i did all that without plugins.

mess around with the ink sketch effect and the pencil sketch effect, heck ive even used them both on the same photo before

Here's a picture of me a friend did, my only job on this project was to look good lol edit: btw, that was 2 days of not shaving lol, and she actual drew a pimp coat, i was actually colored in with sharpie marker lol, it took 2 weeks to get it off lol

^^^ looking good, iono much about shape 3D i just draw everything, thanks for the advice, i think the colors are right on my drawing, i just think it needs more, the color flows to much as one and isnt broken up, maybe ill try to add a belt or somthing
