  1. Understood. So, if the word Copyright is included in the information from the plugin itself, the string SettingsDialog.Plugins.SupportInfo.Copyright.Format is omitted. Ain't that clever?
  2. Mouse Over Tool Tips There are a couple of tool settings that do not show Mouse-Over Tool Tips. It would be helpful to (new) users if they were.
  3. Rick, Please look at the screen capture once again.I would have expected the word "Copyright" to have been translated in Dutch (like Auteur and Locatie). I am talking about Files.AboutCredits.rtf, Icons.FontBoldIcon.png, Icons.FontItalicIcon.png and Icons.FontUnderlineIcon.png. They were used in the About dialogue and to replace the font settings icons with the Text Tool. They appear to be (yet) not used. Cheers, Stephan
  4. Please find attached the Dutch language file for pre-release 4.0.5034/5064/5086/5105/5143 Remove any previous versions of the Dutch language file (*.nl.resources) from the PdN installation folder. Copy the file PaintDotNet.Strings.3.nl-NL.resources (in attached .zip) to the PdN installation folder. Corrections and suggestions for improvement are most welcome. 5. Translation things: SettingsDialog.Plugins.SupportInfo.Copyright.Format appears to be not translated. (See attached screen capture) Faulty reference in source code? The additional localization files in subfolder "Resources" are no longer used? paint.net does not yet scan for PaintDotNet.Strings.4.*.resources files paint.net appears to have undergone a name change: no capitals. Does this apply to ALL instances of the name, including at the start of a sentence? Otherwise no problems updating the Dutch translation. When would be the appropriate time to share them on the forum? Stephan
  6. With the (upcoming) release of v3.5.11 there's also good news that v4.0 may not be too far away. Having been involved in the Dutch translation of v3.1 and v3.5, I am interested to understand what to expect of the work involved in updating the translation to v4.0. I remember that the migration from v3.1 to v3.5 was quite a handful, as the strings.resx file had been heavily restructured. It turned out into a redo-from-scratch with the old version as a [CTRL-F] lookup reference. Rick, Could you shine a light here? Regards, Stephan
  7. Hi Rick, What are the chances of Paint.Net being ported to the upcoming Windows 8 RT tables? Stephan
Stephan
  12. I use SUMo (Software Updates Monitor) to regularly scan for new versions of my programs. With PdN 3.5.10, SUMo fires an error message: "Empty / Invalid version", which - I assume - implies that it cannot find the version number in the executable. Could it be that the version numbering in the paint.dot.net.exe has gone gaga? I'll report this with the producer of SUMo as well, in case there is something to do on his side. Stephan
Stephan
  16. Vreemd dat het bestand verdwenen was. Ik heb het gefixed. Stephan
  17. I looked at LiberKey and tried to download their portable PdN. I can't download it using a regular webbrowser. (download-link: lbk://app.update.liberkey/paint-net.en) It has to be downloaded (and executed) from within their LiberKey environment, which is a barrier to me. PortableApps also offer a convenient USB-key start-menu shell environment-thing, but you do not have to use this. A Paint.Net Portable à la PortableApps, could be installed on any USB-key and executed independent from the PortableApps shell (as long as .Net is available on the host computer). That's an advantage. Eagle00789, where would we be able to download your latest "paintdotnet_3.5.8_portable.paf.exe"? Stephan
  18. Maybe the latest version of PdN will do some good here. Forum rules #7
  20. You'll need video editing software. Why don't you check with the experts at videohelp.com
  21. Hi, Would it be possible to create a plugin (or standard feature) that would allow us to select a rectangular area at a fixed width/heigth ratio? See JPEGCrops. Procedure: Load photo click "fixed-ratio-crop" tool choose desired width/heigth ratio select part of image (ratio is automatically maintained) hand-tool allows repositioning the selection-frame "Crop" button crops the image I would very much like to see such a feature under Effect|Photo. Maybe it's not that difficult for an experienced plug-in developer. Thanks, Stephan
  22. Bedankt Mitch, Ik houd je suggestie in gedachten. Stephan
  23. The help files are online only. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/index.html I dared not enter that realm. Far too much work for me. And, the online help system comes with translations courtesy http://www.microsofttranslator.com/ I figured that'd be just fine. Stephan
  24. Well, the source file PaintDotNet.Strings.3.resx consists of 3446 lines of code, which roughly hold 1085 strings for you to translate. That in itself is a bit of work. The main challenge though is to maintain consistency throughout your translations, as well as relative to other localised software out there, such as Windows itself, MS Office, OpenOffice, GIMP and whatnot. I wouldn't be able to put a number to the amount of hours involved. The complete reorganisation of the Dutch language strings going from version 3.0 to 3.5, plus the completion of some 10% untranslated strings took me about two weeks elapsed time. Maybe 16 hours? But that was based upon an existing translation file. I'd recommend to open both the original English file and your work copy in WinMerge, so that you can keep track of the different strings. Oh, and do use the ResxCheck tool to verify consistency of your translation before going public. I hope this helps. Stephan PS. I just found another small tool for more convenient translation of .resx files: Resx Editor. A quick check with my PaintDotNet.Strings.3.NL.resx file showed that it works quite well.
