This tutorial explains how to create image templates for paint.net. -
CBM uses the filetype plugins installed to load brushes.
-
Sorry about that. I also posted in the CustomBrushesMini thread that an update had been posted. Apart from updating the date in the plugin pack thread, is there anything else I can do to make it clear?
Since 4.0 hadn't been released when I posted the update, I made sure the plugins supported 3.5.11 as well. However, support for 3.5.11 may be dropped in the next update.
I've added a notice that the plugins should work in 4.0 and 3.5.11.

I don't see it. Provide a link so a mod can pin it.
I've updated my main plugin pack.
-
A stable version has been published in the plugins section.
Loading multiple layers as separate brushes hasn't been implemented, but may be considered for a later version.

I wanted the updated CustomBrushes plugin, so I deleted the one I had then tried to install this pack. I think all the plugins were added correctly, but now I can't find the newer CustomBrushes Mini. Did I goof somthing?
Did you get it working? It should be under Effects -> Tools.
-
CustomBrushesMini would load each layer as a brush.
Would having that behaviour for few specific filetypes be sufficient? Is abr the main one you have in mind?
-
How would the layers be treated?
-
This has been superseded by the latest version of my plugin pack.)
-
CustomBrushesMini doesn't work in v4 at the moment. I plan to release a new version when I have time (which should be before the stable version is released).

This tutorial explains how to run paint.net on a Mac using VirtualBox. -
I'm still pretty sure CBM is broken. Has anyone tried it without any FileType plugins installed (does it load all the brushes)?
-
You can also change the default font with Tool -> Choose defaults.

Not sure if that's a feature or not of the PDN 4.0 brush tool as I haven't tried the beta out yet
It is in the beta.
-
Does CustomBrushesMini (the latest version) work for anyone else, with the brushes loading?
-
It loads them for me. I've just experimented and added 10 brushes using the add brush button on the UI
Thanks, I'll try it again. Does EditableText work for you?
-
I need to fix CustomBrushesMini and EditableText.
The first one doesn't crash, it just doesn't load any brushes.
-
I know you worked hard on this, but couldn't you just un-check all other layers
That won't allow you to save an image with a chequerboard in it. If you save as JPEG/BMP or use software that doesn't show a chequerboard you'll just get a white/normal background.
or make a # of copies to make points on the 1 you're focusing on at a step?
I don't understand this.
-
Edit: Never mind
-
With an open containing folder command (providing it highlights the file), you could probably use some macro software to run it, perform the deletion in explorer and then do Alt+F4.

I think it's worth trying even if Paint.NET is installed in the default location (maybe as a last resort).
-
I'm not sure if it's always with a non-default location. I had it installed to C:\Program Files\Paint.NET3 (not the default location, but still in Program Files) when it broke, and fixed it by installing to C:\Paint.NET. Then I changed it back, and it worked.
It could just be about installing it somewhere different to where it was previously (but further installs to the same location worked fine).

Would it be possible to put the directory change solution in somewhere like the install trouble thread?
