  1. What program do I use to unzip .dll files with Windows 7? I've downloaded several and used them for years, but with my new laptop, I'm not sure what program is safe to unzip Ed Harvey plugins. Boltbait's are self-extracting.Thanks for the help.
  2. Thanks, I already developed a system for the kids and they used it.
  3. I know how to do the Pleasantville effect. You're right, it's a plugin for Photoshop but works with a lot of other programs. Paint.net wasn't listed either as one that worked with it or wouldn't work. So I was hoping someone here had used it. Thanks for answering.
  4. Will Black and White Styler work with paint.net? Thanks.
  5. How do I find info about using the Ed Harvey color flip and other effects to create Warhol portraits? I need the easiest method for elementary art students to try. I've downloaded the files already. I like what others have done with them. Thanks, Evar

  7. Thanks. I have read the rules several times, I have used search which I find not to be too user friendly. I try to find answers before I ask questions and only post a question when I'm desperate. I'm a user who is not a graphic artist, so learning this program is difficult. I appreciate help and tolerance.
  8. I've downloaded a plugin before, but now trying to download BoltBait's transparency and gaussian blur plugins, I'm stopped cold by the .dll. I don't know what to open it with. I'd appreciate help. My objective is to try to make a portrait merge out of a rose. Thanks.
  9. When it's time to merge the two layers, the background that is black and white and the color layer, do I select the color layer with Control A (the whole rectangle) or just the cutout part? No matter which one I do, I still can't merge the two layers together. I'm missing some key step and it's very frustrating as I've worked on this for quite a while. Thanks for any help.
  10. I'm trying to do a Pleasantville effect, and though I'm following the tut, I can't merge the layers. The Merge Layer Down isn't activated. What am I doing wrong. Help please. Thanks!
  11. I'm stuck at step 4 of the tutorial. The image is outlined and blinking, with the border around the whole picture blinking, so I hit Contol I, to invert the image and then hit delete on the background layer, to get rid of the background. But every time I'm left with a transparent cutout on the transparent new layer. I have followed the steps, but I'm missing something. Somebody please help this lowly, confused grasshopper.
  12. Thanks for trying to help. I'm still trying to learn about cutting out images and have posted a new question in G.D. Obviously I wasn't going about creating new images the correct way.
  13. I've read all the advice and tutorials about cutting out images and worked hard at solving my own problem. I get to Step 4, with the image outlined, actively blinking, and the border around the whole picture blinking. When I select delete background (in the background layer, small window bottom left) I'm left with a transparent outline on the second transparent layer. The image I've cut out is not there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help. I've learned a lot the past few days, but I can't get this right.
  14. Thank you for your great program. I've just begun to learn it. I'm trying to use the magic wand and have never saved any images I've been working with. However, now every time I try to work with a new image, (paste to new image) one I previously manipulated comes up. I can't get rid of it. I'd be grateful for help.
