  2. Hey there "I Like Pi", I downloaded and tried your .dll Works great but I'm a little confused about "how" to save the file. When I click on "save as" It places the current layers in the folder on the desktop, but it also (because "save" asks me where to save to and I am in the "save to desktop" folder) puts a copy of the .gif file (unopenable of course) on there as well. Is there a certain way to do it so that doesn't happen, or is that just a side of effect of the "quick and dirty"? Anyway, it works. I've made a couple of test files. Thanks!

  5. Well, I don't know what to tell you then. All I did was open a picture, clcick on "adjustments - Hue/Saturation" and move sliders. Both with and without a selection made. Are you using the latest version of PdN? 3.22 or the newer beta release? If not, update now or no one can or will help you.

I hesitate to post this because I don't like comment on what a drawing needs based on my opinion unless asked, however, since you are considering a tutorial for this I would like to suggest including a "lighter area" in the black "thickness" of the text, to indicate the light (which is causing the reflection on the text) hitting there also. I made a quickie just to show you what I mean. No offense intended and I look forward to your tut as I had to guess at a lot of this to make my example and it's not right.
  7. You can use Hue/Saturation that comes in PdN. I have downloaded the "Conditional H/S" but I haven't played around with it yet. So I'll just show you how I did it the regular way. This is quick and dirty, you will have to take more time with the selection process. First - original pic. You can see the VERY loose selection includes parts you wouldn't normally want effected by a color change. This is just to show you how. Go to, "adjustments -hue and saturation" and move sliders 1st color change - Blue Camaro 2nd color change - Red Camaro 3rd color change - Gold Camaro - done with no selection at all. Notice it changes the sky and other things as there is no selection. All of this was done in about 15 mins including the upload and pasting. So I have no doubt that if you spend a decent amount of time and care on the selection you can get a very good color change on your car. Now, if you're talking about coloring your car from nothing, as in a blank outline, then you'll have to do it just like you would paint a picture. Add color of your choice, add highlights, reflection, shading, etc. there is no "magic" button that will do all that for you. You have to have something to start with and manipulate from there.   8. Okay, I think you must be having fun with the "going blind guy" because I don't see any red line. I had someone else look, we even both looked with a magnifier after clicking to enlarge and still don't see anything. I even adjusted the res, and contrast on my monitor, so either something's wrong with my laptop's monitor, mine and someone else's eyes are very, very bad, or it got lost somewhere in cyber-space.
  9. I'm sure you're right, it's my eyes going bad I guess, I can't see the sun box. I know what you're talking about though because I have seen it in other drawings, but I can't in this one. I set the layer to screen from normal but it still looks the same to me. Is it any different for you? Okay, final attempt with this one, any better?
  10. Really good tutorial. Here's mine. I added a tweak to the stars and repositioned the "fireball". Interesting treatment with the clouds, you must have been on caffine or meds when you figured that one out. Thanks for your tut.
  11. I'm still in "gear" mode. Here's my latest, a brass gear. uH - great idea and good job so far. Can't wait to see it finished. Yeah, I think it needs some phone buttons and a built in camera up at the top like on some laptops. Be pretty cool to produce something like that for real. (that you had designed I mean.)
  12. Looks good, however I don't think the gears can move at all with that placement No, they won't. The two top big gears would have to be separated and work as two cluster off the main big one. (I think) And thanks for the comment, appreciate your opinion.
  13. Gears seem to be popular lately so I thought I'd give 'em a try. Thanks Ash for the kick-off. This was just a "make two and copy them" kind of thing. If I were going to get serious I'd make them individualy so I could change the reflections, shading, ect. One suggestion for anyone wanting to try and do gears. Pay a little more attention to the teeth than I did. Few gears really have "pointed teeth", the tips are just too weak to take the strain and are more often than not, flat or ground tipped (unless of course we're talking watch gears or something delicate), just something to keep in mind. Topezia - I checked, and the best I can do on the "PDN Towers" I did, is to tell you what I remember. I'll PM if you want. I've got to get more organized about my drawing if I'm going to be sharing how I did things. Sorry. And no, it doesn't look 'zactly like a supository. But for a bomb, maybe change the top end to some fins or at least flat. Love the coloring. barbbark00 - Really nice! Expiration - Cool sandbag. Looks very well used. There's too much good stuff and you all post so fast it's impossible to mention everybody. But I do look at them and think you all do some teriffic work. Thanks for posting.

  15. Wow. Just WOW. Opps, that was shouting wasn't it? Some really good work posted in the last few pages. I think my fav is the "cross helmet thingy", absolutely beautiful. This is one I did today. It started because Topezia??? (I hope I got that right) said that the frame in her/his drawing was done with "radial colors" and I had never heard of that plugin before. So, I downloaded it and messed around with it today. The buildings were built with that plugin and then everything else was layred on top. It's all PDN accept for the three birds and the PDN logo. I call it "Looking Up" -
  16. The link doesn't show the picture for me. Only the "Bannana" logo. I used my magnifier glass to look at the smaller image and to me (just personal opinion from the small pic OK?) it seems like the ringed planet wants more light. It doesn't look like the sun is farther away than the Saturn, but rather, that it's between Saturn and...(Pluto, is it?). For what you have, I would move the sun far off to the back and some to the left. As if it's above and away, from both planets. Also, the back side of Saturn, in the position you have it, would be getting some reflective light from the other planet. Again, these are just my personal takes on things. Please take no offense, I like your pic. It is clean and crisp, and I'm sure others would see things differently. Everybody's got an opinion right? No sayin' mine's the right one.
  17. Here's my begining of an underwater drawing. 100% PDN of course. I think I'm going to add this to the room drawing I'm working on. Topezia - I like that frame you made. Is that done with "light rays"? Frozen_Byte - Nice space pic. I haven't viewed it full size yet. If I see something I think will help, I'll post it.
  18. Ok, I'm up to this one now. Here is my homage to Pyro's fantastic tutorial. Most copied sig? Why would someone want to copy anyone's sig? I learned a lot form this tut which is very well written. I like the way Pyro offers suggestions about coloring with Gradient map or Contour. Little reminders in a tut are very helpful with such a creative program as PDN. The gradient Bars and layer Blending are a neat trick and I would say, the key aspect of this tut. The two water reflections used was an interesting dilema for reality. I kept asking myself why wouldn't the text follow the same as the watery surface? Then also, there was the "shadow". Why wouldn't that have the watery ripples as well? So after playing around a lot, I got as close as I could with the three "rippled" elements. For the shadow I did actually use the "ripple" effect. So, here's what I made. Thanks Pyro, looking forward to more tutorials from you. Also, not that it's important, but in mine you have to imagine a front light source for the shadow because of the back light source in the sky.
  19. Wow, some really good stuff here, as usual. JS - Love that oval thing, just beautiful. That "Cheers" pic is great. Good job cutting out the characters. I never get that right. A Mexican Super Hero. Neat idea, "Sombraroman" Good job on the final version. Keep up the good work, you all inspire me more every time I check in here.
  20. Thank you DA for your time and prompt answer. It appears to have been an error of my own ignorance and not understanding about having to update my plugins. I went to the plugins thread while waiting and found that the "EdHarvey-Effects" was WAY different than what I had. I downloaded and installed the newer and now, all the GUI boxes I have checked so far are fine. Again, thank you for your time. I do have my text set larger because I have trouble seeing, so I am sure that I will need to adjust this in the future, and it did not even occur to me to think of that. I will make a note of it and remember to check that in the future.
  21. Please forgive me if this has been covered. I did search using different keywords but found nothing. As stated before I am compuilliterate, sorry. I have version 3.22 but have had this issue with earlier version as well. The setting window on some effects cuts off the bottons and/or text as in the following: One of the effects boxes cuts off the buttons almost entirely and I have to guess which one is which. I have a 17" laptop with a resolution of 1440 x 990. I have changed to different resolutions but to no use, some even made it worse. I have managed to live with it, but a solution would be nice also. Also, if this is not the proper section for this question please move. I considered Genral Discussion, but it seemed more Trouble Shooting to me. Thanks for any help.
  22. Thanks for the comments on my room picture. DarkShock91, Sabrown100 - I agree totally. I tried it without the PDN background but the text has bits of white that make it look funny without. I need to go in and clean up the logo. And, yes it is too fuzzy. I don't know which step caused that. It was crystal clear up to a point in the process, then of course I did something, probably resized. I'm gonna re-do it. Can't be posting fuzzy, slip-shod work in this room of pros. (that's a compliment, not sarcasm BTW). Well, back to work...

  24. Here's one incorporating all the tutorials I've gone through, and some variations of my own for the gold and chrome frames. Everything is PDN accept for the car photos. They came from "serious wheels" web site I posted before. MR52 - I like it! Very cool black steel look. Edit: Now that I've gone back and looked at a few pages to catch up... oma - Fantastic! I love underwater scenes and yours is a beauty. tourist - Great looking marble, so light and clean.. Great job. Ash - Great tip on that AA/radial blur, another one for my notebook. Thanks! Sorry, I forget now who posted the house, but it looks good to me. Only thing I would do is lighten the tree shadow bit. OK, back to tutorials for me, see ya.
