  1. As the title suggests, how would you go about creating a Cattle Brand? I'm trying to create something simple using the letters "dP" to produce something along these lines: I want to have a textured background that resembles hair (does not need to change shade, though) and a way to make a rough looking outline for the letters.
  2. When I draw a line, is there a way to say, "Start at point (864,0), go exactly 270° down (actually, I can hold down the shift key for that, but I digress...) and end at the other side of the canvas at point (864, 3456)? A script would probably work well, but I've never dipped into that. Should this be a separate topic, or can I tack other questions on here? Seems rather small for a separate question.
  3. Let me see if I can rephrase this. I don't want to work with files that are this size: 5616x3744. That's the size of my larges photo. I set my form size to what I want to work with, and drop images into new layers. When images are larger than my canvas size, there is no prompt asking if I want to reduce the image, fit the image into the allotted space, or stretch my canvas - that I have found. All it does is stretch my canvas, and I am left to go in and try to get everything back down to the size I had before. The part above that says "that I have found" is the key. I imagine someone has found this annoying before me, and there is something to do about it. Am I correct?
  4. I'm about to start a project where I create a family calendar for 2013. If I get it done in time, it will be what I give out for Christmas presents this year. I have about 300 images that I want to fill in a grid 4 across and 4 high so that I can get 16 images per month. That won't use all 300 images, but I'll be able to pick the best of the bunch. Anyway, the image sizes range from 258x235 (WxH) to whopping 5616x3744 (WxH). If I make each of grid sizes very, very large so that I can fit the largest image, I suspect I'll have problems with RAM and the project will be very slow. If I make each of the grid sizes very, very small, then every time I try dropping a larger image onto the project, it's going to try stretching the canvas to fit the image or I'll have to struggle with squishing the images smaller. I have image resizing tools, but they typically do not generate the kind of quality I like from Paint.Net. Is there a technique that someone has come up with so that dropping a file that is too large into a region will shrink the image to fit the canvas ...or magnify an image that is too small?
  5. LOL - Enough said. I know I shouldn't laugh, but... I guess I've found myself in similar situations and (at least in my mind) I am typically the one on the bad end of the stick.
  6. LOL. I'm sure I read every word of all those license agreements. So, since you are the one who knows, would this be because you don't want someone making a profit off of something you are giving away? I was thinking access to the API would open up new ways for me to incorporate a splash screen on my form or drawing up a sketch of one of our products from the AutoCad drawing. But, if it is an Absolutely Not - then I understand why I haven't found any info on it. Don't worry - I won't try if I'm not supposed to. I'm a Developer, too.
  7. That's exactly what I wanted! Thanks. http://i.imgur.com/OsIfX.jpg
  8. I did a search for API, and surprisingly nothing pulled up. Is there any way to use Paint.net in something like a C# winform or webform or is accessing the Graphics object directly just easier to do?
  9. I want to try to fade a couple of photos together. Fading a color from one block to another is fairly straightforward, but doing this with photos appears to be giving me troubles. Currently, each photo lives in its own layer. Photo A takes up the Lower Left while Photo B consumes the Upper Right ...and is in a Higher Layer than Photo A. I add a layer that has a gradient using transparent white as one color and solid white as the other. With this layer, I thought I could select a Blend or reduce the Opacity so that the Lower Left edges of Photo B fade away, allowing the image to look like it is fading into Photo A. Well, it did not work very well. It looked like bloody potato, in fact. LOL Could someone tell me how to fade one picture into another?
  10. I'm trying to build a sprite image for a website based on a graphic that I created with Paint.NET. The graphic has about 6 different layers. To make the sprite image, I need the items in one layer to be duplicated in the exact same spots only shifted down by an integral number of the height. So, if the original image is 400px, I stretch the canvas out to 1200px. Now I want to copy each of the 6 layers and paste them exactly 400px down, then copy each of the 6 layers and paste them exactly 800px down. I'm guessing there is a way to do something like this using the scripting ability of Paint.NET, but I have never used that feature before. Could one of you guys who is really good with this tool guide me through how to do this?
  11. If I download this plug-in from Post #1, am I getting the latest version or do I need to weed through the 12 pages of this post to find that (I can't imagine that would be the case, but who knows)?
  12. I don't know what it's called on this forum, but I could not find that in the plug-ins section anywhere. I would have replied sooner, but the annoying search tool made me wait between searches before I could try another search. (pulling my hair out over here!)
  13. Sorry Barbie. I think you posted while I was composing. The Oblique tool might do what I'm after. If not, it's the closest I've found yet. In your link, I got to looking at BoltBait's reply (post #10 of the link referenced above). I'd be interested in getting into the code and writing some scripts to try to do that. Would I need the whole opensource code or just write a few lines of code in C# and insert it into some code window? Is there a "getting started" section on writing code? Rats. Strayed off the main topic.
  14. Hi mountnman, That is a neat trick, and something I did not know was possible. However, my question does not seem to be very well understood, probably because the example image I posted looks like I only need to curve some basic text. I want to insert a company supplied graphic of their logo with text, etc. and curve that. Insert Image as new Layer. Use Select Tool to select most of the image. Then, somehow, find a way to BEND the selected pixels that contains the logo with text. My company might get upset if I post their logo (I don't know all the legals associated with that), so let me post some Examples of logos I just found. Could someone show me a way to add one of these images to a PDN project, select the pixels, then somehow make those pixels bend in an arc like what's on the Sheriff's badges in Post #1? I'm sure some of these images will display with a big Red X on other's machines. Hopefully by including pictures from a few different domains, 1 or more will show up.
  15. hey manc, I saw your tutorial on how to do that. For basic text, that would be fine. Our company's logo, however, has some airbrush work, raised letters, a glow, shadowing, and a reflection on the bottom. A simple chop-and-move would produce poor results. Should this be added as a feature request? I am Software Developer and not a Graphics Artist, so I would not know what terms to use to describe what I'm trying to do if I were to make the request.
  16. I'm looking for a way to select a rectangular region, then pull it from one of the center bar points to create a rectangle with a curve. Why? Our company has a nice graphic that it paid for, and I've got a high resolution version of it. I want to create a graphic of some of our products, and instead of having the boring looking "stamp styled logo" at the top or bottom of my graphic, I'd like to add it in as a new layer, then bend it around the image. Did I describe what I want done clearly? Here is a basic idea of what I'm talking about from some curved text I found online (Keep in mind, I am trying to curve a graphic, though):
  17. Is there a tool out there already that allows me to Flip (Horizontal or Vertical) a selection? I'm sitting here trying to "photoshop" a picture of a car and take out a dog that is covering one half of the wheel. From what I can see, I have to create a duplicate layer, Flip the entire layer, select the region of the wheel that is not covered by Muttley, copy it, and paste that into the original layer. That's possible, but tedious! Does a tool already exist that does this? If not, can it be added to the requested features? Through the various editions of Paint.NET, I've often found myself going up to the Edit menu (logical spot) then other menus to see if it has been added yet. If it is there, I don't know what it's called. Thanks, Joe

  19. How would I create Outline Letters? I did a search using the text "Outline Letters" and nothing pulled up. Perhaps it is called something else. There is a picture of what I'm after below. I've tried adding two layers with the same text and stretching one of the layers, but this looks like garbage (edges stretch, center stays fixed, etc.).
  20. I'm trying to create a font based on the attached image: Could anyone tell me what font is used for the XR1200 text? Is a plug-in for that font available?
  21. Thanks! That tool works a lot better than the forum's Search tool!
  22. Is there a mirror somewhere for this site? Direct download at http://users.telenet.be/krisvandermotten. Work's IT department simply will not "unblock" Internet sites that are not .com or .net because of their higher virus content and low "for business" usage. This is the forth time over the years that I've had to get this plugin (I guess it gets overwritten with Paint.NET updates or it isn't compatible with newer versions), and the only way I am ever able to get the file is to download it from home on my slow dial-up and bring it to work.
  23. Thanks! I saw his plugin in the list, but the name didn't ring any bells.
