  1. Voting is over! OK! Voting's up, it seems we have enough votes. In joint second, we have Frontcannon and jerry533482 with one vote each! So, in first place, with 8 votes, one of which was from Frontcannon, we have, of course, Sarkut! Sarkut, congratulations, and get working on our next theme! Deadline: 30th of April, 2010 After a long hiatus, welcome back to the Pixel Competition, as hosted by me and as sponsored by all those cute little pixels on the site. The theme this time is recreation; no, not as in having fun, but as in re-creating a piece of art. You must choose an image, no bigger than 150x150px, and, whether simply tracing over it, or just using as reference, you must pixelise this image. A border is not required, however you may add one should you so wish. Rules - Entries made before the contest are allowed, only if they were made a maximum of one month before, to keep your skills around the same as they are now. As well, if it has been entered into any Paint.NET forum contest before, it cannot enter this contest. Finally, it is encouraged that you make some slight modifications. - Images must be no larger than 150x150px, and must also be larger than 25x25px. - Only one entry per person. - Layers are allowed. - Partial and full transparency is allowed (I used to frown on this, however I have since been persuaded) - Any inspiration and stock (not that you're likely to be using stock images) must be linked to or otherwise given credit. - MS Paint may NOT be used, I'm afraid. I know you could in competition #1, but you can't this time. - The colour picker is allowed. - No cheating! Naturally. With that, I don't believe there is any further need for discussion, however if there is anything you wish to say, please move it to the discussion thread. It can be found here.
  2. So, welcome to the discussion thread for Pixel Competition #3! Here, we'll all discuss important matters (yeah, right) and other such things. I will also look for your feedback on certain matters, to help improve the competition. One thing I should first like to ask is this; what are people's opinions on how the next theme should be decided if the competition ends in a tie? I have a system thought up to help determine the theme, but it's a work in progress.
  3. I know, and I perfectly accept that, and don't see that as being rude; I had a well formed rebuttal, but all that succeeds in doing is making me look rude (which I am at the moment, actually; it's inconsiderate of me to expect dedication to such a small competition, and therefore I perfectly understand what you mean).
  4. Very well, I'll start preparations this afternoon, but I won't be here most of the day. My, I feel two-faced now...
  5. Well I've been waiting for you to say whether you'd like to host the pixel art competition, but you're too late now.
  6. While the generosity is appreciated, as I said; Axle displayed an interest first, and so I believe he should have all the choices.
  7. As Axle said, I'd be happy to revive the Pixel Competition, as long as we can organise it a little better this time. I would offer to host it again, as my life is a lot less busy now, however seeing as Axle already appears to have taken responsibility, I'll leave it to him to decide the best way to revive the competition.
  8. Really? I don't see anything that unusual - it is a flat roof, by the way, in case my art is so bad you couldn't tell. Nevertheless, thank you for the criticism.
  9. Now, I already posted this in the mega-update a while ago, but for a piece I, personally, am very proud of, I've decided to re-post it - that, and shameless bumps never hurt. Some advice on where I ca improve would be nice, because I'm working on a big project currently. So, here we are!
  10. I love the abstracts, you appear to be very skilled with PDN for a so-called "nooby kid". And level 6 gymnastics? Impressive. A couple of years ago, in year five, I was level 4, and I appreciate the work it takes.
  11. My my, I like it indeed! Although, 50x50 might be a little small. Perhaps go with the usual dimensions, can't remember what they are, I'll find them for you in a moment, or just go a little bigger.
  12. Don't I was a self-obsessed jerk. Anyway, great composition there, love the detail - only a work in progress you say!? Never, it's amazing! In all seriousness, I look forward to seeing this, as I'm actually working on one of my own.
  13. Well, I try my hardest, but I don't hold a candle to your work. I've always loved glossy things, but never been able to do them well.
  14. Ha, thank you very much. It can be bothersome, but it's worth the effort. And seeing as no-one is going to guess it, I'll explain my latest av and sig to you all; they are sample space table for the numbers one to six. The left one is the sum of the numbers for a square converted to a scale of best fit in colour, the second is multiplication, the third subtraction, the final one on the right division. I like mathematics and being extremely geeky.
  15. Not really artwork so much as an experimental concept, here's my new sig and av set. Extreme kudos and cookies to anyone who guesses what it is. You probably won't.
  16. Actually, the way I read it s/he was asking how to make a glossy highlight as seen in the image.
  17. And yet another lovely gallery I've missed! I love the design, it looks very sleek and well-made. You stuck to the colour scheme well; if I tried just to use two main colours, I'd add ina little blue, then some yellow, maybe a drop of brown, and before you know it, the dark, moody website is a rainbow.
  18. My my, how did I miss your gallery? They're wonderful! I especially adore this one: If it was bigger, and my desktop wasn't already home to penguin renders, I'd use it as my wallpaper for all eternity.
  19. Nice use of Moire, the mathematic ad scientific principles behind it have alway fascinated me. Although, I do think it's a little more like a dosco ball than a planet, if you don't mind my saying so. I look forward to seeing more work from you.
  20. Nice wallpapper, heh. Seriously though, I love it. If my desltop wasn't already occupied by renders of TinyTux, I'd use it straight away.
  21. Very nice, though on the second one, the background seems to contrast with the style of the render a little. I do like the backgrounds though; very nice.
  22. Very nice! Some bits look like very oddly shaped flames, it's that realistic.
  23. They mock me because I'm socially inept and a nerd.
