  1. Alright, so I took my 3D lettering method and decided to make it feel a lot more glassy. I think it is coming along just fine:
  2. Not a big update, just adding my entry for the Your Band! competition David setup in the Overflow:
  3. In other words, go for it! And if you plan to redistribute the final product then include the copyright notice.
  4. Heh, for one that gets a lot of positive feedback I find it a little humorous it only took a few minutes... 1. Open up Fern Fractal and set it to green. Doesn't really matter what settings you use here. 2. Open up Rotate / Zoom and then Rotate it as such in the image. 3. Duplicate the layer. Name the duplicate 'Face'. 4. Name the non duplicate 'Blur'. 5. On 'Blur', open up Motion Blur. 6. Blur at a -90.0 degree angle with 'Centered' turned off at default amount 7. Duplicate 'Blur' 4 times, then flatten all 5 'Blur' layers 8. Black and White the 'Blur' layer
  5. Opened the file in Notepad++, took notes based on the image width and height including layer numbers, created a new Paint.NET File using the saved information then compared which parts were missing or corrupt in the original and replaced where needed. A very dirty process that could probably be better done by someone else. Edit: Simon got it right
  6. I just deleted the file  All that was visible was around 25 layers of orange noise. I didn't think, in comparisson to the the thumbnail, that it was salvagable.
  7. Well, I recovered it. But unfortunetly the recovered portions were to damaged for any good use. Sorry, Helen.
  8. Use a transparency gradient by selecting as your tool then set the tool to :AlphaChannel: Hope this helps!
  9. Thanks for the comments, all. So, I was looking at my first line art peice, Dig a Pony, and thought "Man, I really need to work on my line art! Color, better lines, everything!" So I opened up Paint.NET and decided to start working on something. In the end I chose a paintbrush. All in all, I think it turned out pretty well:
  10. Great tut Madjik. I learned some cool techniques reading this, thanks! @ Simon: No offense, but your attempts at these tutorials always humour me
  11. Ok, I have been needing some new content. Introducing some random things like a no stock Chaos signature and a no stock (except for the logo and lyrics, but that shouldn't count ) Dig a Pony sketch.
  12. I must admit that your version is much more usable in terms of short and sweet.
  13. When I originally worked on Color to Alpha I was asked by a friend for some basic requirements. Now that I look back on it there are some things I could really work on. I will work on an updated plugin this week.
  14. Whoa! Time flies. Competition has ended, I will put up voting tonight
  15. I am going to second BB's suggestions, or complaints. Either or Secondly, if you could possibly publish an APNG plugin that does the same thing, I would be eternally happy.
  16. @HELEN: Right now, I am more concerned in learning how to replicate the process in different ways, and quicker. For instance, right now I am working on refining the edges of the shapes so as to create a better blur and toning effect. See the bottom of the post as an example. @Oma: I am happy you enjoy my work. To have such high established Paint.NET artists recognize something within the art I create means a lot to me. Thank you Now, onto business. I have been trying to get a different effect with the 3D shapes and letters. This time, the blending mode for the reflection doesn't rely on the color of the background like the blue one did, as well the edges of some of the letters are actually blended in a bit better. Perhaps when I am done, I will write a brief tutorial on how to create the effect. Also, one more thing: I didn't hollow out the letter as well as the blue one. The reason? I am trying to get this under ten steps, so the end part in which I do hollow out the letter is in the process of being shortened. If I am to ever write a tutorial, either I will have to get the end part under five steps or just include and .SLS with it, wich I really don't want to do
  17. Signature of the Week Alright, poll ends in two days, so start voting! ~ Jake2K ~ ~ pipp92 ~ ~ survulus ~ ~ worldnewser ~ Well, what can I say: I like to bring back the dead and revive the fallen. As such, I again have decided to bring back the game of SotW to the Paint.NET forums. Since I am unsure as too what is going on regarding the previous winner and his chosing of the theme, I again have decided to select a theme. The theme I have selected is a much more personal theme. In fact, so personal only you yourself could participate. Now, I bet your ready to hear the selection, so I will point to the thread title for this. This week's theme is yourself. Use this submition to express you, your art, or your feelings. Art is meant to be emotional, so lets bring back SotW with a bit of a bang, shall we? The deadline for this competition is 23:59 (11:59pm) (PST) on Sunday, January 11th. To see the current time in PST to compare it with your local time, click here (WorldTimeServer.com). Check the SOTW Rules! If your entry breaks any of the rules it will be disqualified. ------------------------------------------------------------------ [*:28tm3ixz] Max sig dimensions follow the board's max sig dimensions, 500x150.
