  1. It really, truly depends. I think that if 70-100% of the image is created or edited in Paint.NET then yes, you can give it that tag. Anything below it deserves the Edited in Paint.NET tagline. For instance, my signature is comparison to the stock is very, very different. Not only have I added portions of Paint.NET created imagery, but because the focus of the signature is a stock it really can only be said to have been Edited in Paint.NET.

However, it is with in the artists call and self conscious to determine on whether he or she created the piece using which tool. If you are having to ask us, then no, it wasn't made in Paint.NET. I really hope this brings some clarification to your decision regarding your artwork. Hopefully a tag maker, such as tHs, posts his opinion.

  2. Here is a decent quality tutorial for hair and fur: viewtopic.php?t=6029

In fact, here is an even better tutorial by Ash: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6143

Both of these were found using www.SearchPaint.NET. In the future, please use both available search engines to find the content you are looking for before posting for help. These search utilities work wonders! As well, while you are searching for hair, search for The Rules. Click on the first result (either engine) to find the answer regarding bumping threads. This will keep you away from the moderator's thumb ;)

    Hope this has helped!

  3. Make sure that the area you have saved your content is not in the same path or folder as DivX encoded videos or other high quality codec related media is stored. In fact, move the file(s) you are having trouble opening to a brand new folder on the desktop then try to open it from there. If you use the search function, you will find that there is a lot of back talk regarding this situation and a higher quality explanation of the issue. Hope this helps!

  4. There is no way to set the scale tool to clip to a certain ratio. I think what you are reporting is more or less a desire for a feature, one that could not be implemented any time soon (unless, of course, you didn't mind have the selection auto scaling immediately [in other words, more headaches then it is worth]). Hope this helps.

  5.

I refuse to wait in a standstill with others until that second comment is posted. I think that there needs to be a better solution to the max reply count. Perhaps the first to comment on a piece posted gets first priority for the next image posted? That would actually speed up this thread, and keep these standstills from happening.

  6. I really, really enjoy the work you put into the spacescape! Really well done! I enjoy the blending of colors and the spot on lighting texture for the planet. If you made it a bit larger and made is somewhat busier in the sides of the canvas, it would be much better, however. Definitely a 9/10 from me!

  7. While I like the overall style and placement of the capture, I think your edits in Paint.NET may have ruined some overall features of the creation. For instance, your medium blurring on the horizon really distracts from the overall image. As well, the way your link portions flow into the signature is rather obtrusive. I think that a more minimalistic version could have been used across the top instead. I also think that your mountain is rather bland in the render.

  8. Your new sig has made me lose all my respect for you. We (tag makers) praise some of your stuff and you turn around to slap us in the face. tHs is right, it's all art, nothing is better, all opinions. Seriously, grow up dude.

Surely hypocritical back talk is unnecessary? It is my opinion that the work 'tag makers' put into their stock pieces is a fine example of wasted talent. Your brushwork, smudging, blending, and insight of colours is fantastic on your signature. However, for such extreme detailing you put this effort into a stock, setting the standard of your work to be something you are not responsible for creating.

I don't think it is I who has to grow up for expressing an opinion, but people like you who take it beyond a grain of salt. If you have enough confidence that your art is, well, your art then is there a need to post a disagreement in my gallery? I don't dance my signature around your artwork, that is disrespectful to you as a person. I would appreciate it if you kept such disagreement away from my gallery as a manner of maturity, because to me that is creating my home of work into a topic of debate.

Really, though: my signature is just an opinion of yours. Nothing more! Not an outcry against just you, but the cult of 'tag artists'. You think it is art, I think it is dressing up a stock. Have I done it before? Yes. Do I at least admit a fault in my work? Yes. I apologize for affending you to such a point that it has come to this. But honestly, I think both a private message and overall better communication could have been done on your part.

  9. Whoa whoa whoa!

Are you complaining about the quality of Ash's Sunset Tutorial? Do you realize how much work and effort was put into that tutorial? Ash deserves the rights to not reveal the full method behind his artwork. It is not our goal to try and teach a user our technique from the head down. That tutorial leaves room for expansion and growth, it allows the user to try and explore Paint.NET, to discover the program and its capabilites for themselves.

Now then, if you really think you can't put yourself through the process of figuring something out yourself, give us a picture, some details on what exactly you are trying to achieve, and leave out the negativity. I am sure you will find the answer to your 'million dollar question'.

  10. Yeah, my 4kb connection is quite angry. Actually, I am quite angry that the speed is this slow (referring to the fact that we were promised 100kb). >.<

Also, while some may find use in this I don't really think this tutorial was necessary. Why?

Wow, did not realize how much of a {insert adjective} I was with this post. I apologize

    Sorry, just an opinion ;)

  12. Heh, for one that gets a lot of positive feedback I find it a little humorous it only took a few minutes...

    1. Open up Fern Fractal and set it to green. Doesn't really matter what settings you use here.

    2. Open up Rotate / Zoom and then Rotate it as such in the image.

    3. Duplicate the layer. Name the duplicate 'Face'.

    4. Name the non duplicate 'Blur'.

    5. On 'Blur', open up Motion Blur.

    6. Blur at a -90.0 degree angle with 'Centered' turned off at default amount

    7. Duplicate 'Blur' 4 times, then flatten all 5 'Blur' layers

    8. Black and White the 'Blur' layer
