You're missing that clicking on "check for updates..." in the help menu starts a update check, regardless of whether any boxes are checked. All I'm saying is that given both of the above, you would expect that neither of them would search for betas when doing a "manual" update check. However, the second combo does. Therefore, it should be changed so the options are independent of one another to avoid confusion.

No, I'm saying that you can't change "Also check for pre-release..." w/o checking "Automatically check for newer versions..." first. 8)

For the update options, the option to check for beta releases shouldn't be grayed out. That way you can manually check for updates and still get beta releases and/or not have to check the box above it to be able to get pre-releases.

What exactly do you mean? Can you give us the steps to reproduce what happens?

By any chance, did you happen to install any of the Firefox 3 alpha versions on top of, w/o getting rid of FF 2? They might be related...

The password thing was just an example, it could be email, name, or any other information that is part of a picture. And although there is a way to very easily 'fix' the image, not everyone knows about it. So some other Paint.NET user could unwillingly compromise information that they would rather keep private.

This should be fixed ASAP, as it could potentially compromise one's security. For example, if I had a picture with a password in it, after editing it out, you would still be able see it!

Do you have Avatars disabled in the user control panel?

I was testing out this plug-in, and noticed something quite strange. If you save a file (.wdp) in which about 73% or more of the pixels are transparent, saving it at a 32-bit depth at 99% quality results in a larger file size than saving it at 100% quality. This effect also seems to amplify as more transparent pixels are added. So, for example saving a 400x300 resolution file where 73.333% the pixels are transparent results in less than a 1024 byte difference, while saving a completely transparent 400x300 file at 100% and 99% quality result in 736 and 33,028 byte file sizes, respectively. That a 44.875 times bigger file size, at less quality.

He probably got malware when he went to download Paint.NET, from some other site.

You do realize how dumb it is not to keep your programs up to date, right? I mean, who cares about the latest definition files for my antivirus, they are just tiny updates. What Rick and david says is true, you should update, as the update isn't tiny just because it only increased the version by 0.05. Go here: http://www.getpaint.net/roadmap.html and you will see that there have been more than 40 changes since 3.05 was released.

Get the letter in your clipboard by copying it, whenever you want to use it, press Ctrl+V. Sadly, there appears to be no other shortcut that I can find (i.e. Alt+123).

You could get rid of the bloatware that is Kodak "Easy" Share, and replace it with something that won't try to take over your computer, like Picasa.

Are you running Windows 2000? Support for that was dropped a while back.

Try pressing Ctrl+A (select all) before copying and pasting the picture in a new image/layer. The problem appears to be caused by the fact that copying by pressing Ctrl+C with nothing selected results in nothing being copied. Without anything selected try going to the Edit menu and notice how "Copy" is grayed-out.

Windows 98? C'mon, at least replace it with Ubuntu or something, which is much, much better than 98. (Although you won't be able to run Paint.NET on it... yet)

I'm referring to the smallest the window can possibly be, which is the default (as you stated). I tested it on different resolutions and this doesn't appear to be the case.

The layers window should be ~3px taller (at default) so it can accommodate 3 layers without a vertical scrollbar. Kind of minor since you can easily fix it and vertical scrollbars aren't that annoying...

Under the "Resize" menu there is something called "Resolution"...

It has to do with anti-aliasing. When rotating a pic with non-anti-aliased( :AntiAliasingOff: ) pixels, it blurs them, as the pixels are in a grid, so when rotated, half of a pixels might be in one grid section and the other half in another, so it shades them to make it look like it is in only one. I would suggest either enabling anti-aliasing( :AntiAliasingOn: ) or using "flip horizontal/ vertical".

Do you somehow have temp files disabled, or have a some program cleaning temp files every other second? The "Could not find file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Samuel\Local Settings\Temp\PdnSetup\PaintDotNet.msi'." suggests something with temp files, try putting the installer in that folder...

In Internet Explorer 7, the data in the "Replies" column and the "Last Post" are off-center. It might be slightly annoying for some IE users. (good thing I'm not one of them )
