  1. The avatar is better than the sig...better composition, and more visual interest. Your sig needs to be better laid-out (maybe cross the spears lower and figure out a way to put the glyph in the center foreground, or something).

  7. I'm getting some very interesting textures out of this by replacing the outline step with random effects. How did you discover the hidden pattern that auto-level revealed the first time?

  11. Give the Ink Sketch (thanks, boltbait) effect a try. It might not get you exactly what you want, but it should get you pointed in the right direction...

  13. Depends on what you mean...there is a "Color Tint" plugin that can be used to colorize an image, and there's the hue/saturation adjustment tool in the adjustments menu. Maybe a better explanation of what you're trying to accomplish?

  15. @mikl2233: Overall, very nice work! No obvious "coloring outside the lines" issues, etc. Good tones... I'd maybe try for a slightly darker skin-tone or a very slight lightening of the hair color. The skin on her face has a doll-like hardness to it that's not present in the B & W version. To my eyes, it looks like it's because the contrast between the hair and forehead is higher in the colorized pic than in the original.

  17. ...actually, I was thinking of this one: http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4408&start=0&hilit=rgb It's an RGB-to-CMYK converter...so a bit different from what I was thinking in my previous post...
  18. Sharp: The colors are fine...the only thing I dislike is the glowing section. There is a distinct boomerang-shaped object in between the planets (most likely the lines you drew to make the glow from) that my eyes are repeatedly drawn to. Maybe a softer, gradual curve, or something that uses the shape of the foreground planet as a mask to reshape it?

  22. ...or (depending on how finicky your selection criteria is) hold down the [shift] key and use the magic wand tool to pick a spot on the image with that color, then copy and paste into a new layer... Holding down [shift] gets all pixels on the screen that match the pixel you use the magic wand on (respecting whatever you have the "tolerance" slider set to). Oh, and there's a plugin somewhere that will take an image and split it into separate red, green, and blue components, if you're just asking about color separation.
  23. Okay...that I understand...you need to change the bits-per-pixel in an image. BZZZZT...parser error...unable to comprehend... Best guess here is that you want to take an 8-bit-per-pixel image (maybe a GIF or BMP) and convert it to a 32-bit-per-pixel image (perhaps a PNG). Assuming I guessed correctly, sure. There is definitely a way to do that. Just open the image and save it as a PNG. Need a bit of clarity...make part of it fully transparent? Make all of it a little bit transparent? What are we talking about? Maybe if you tell us what you're planning on doing with the image, we could give you some direction. Okay. Again, not quite sure what you're asking for. What do you want to change the color of? Do you need to tint the entire picture? Do you want to replace some particular color with another color? Do you want to make the picture brighter or crisper-looking or something? We need a hint. Not sure who ani is, but, I'll take your word for it...unless you meant the animated cursor plugin (makes .ANI files).
