  1. I actually dislike tiny gadgets. They always cause suffering to those who are afflicted with stubby fingers, and I actually like a satisfying heft in my hands: I want to feel that what I've paid a substantial amount for is a quality piece of kit. My phone is massive, and as soon as I have the money, my full iPod Nano shall be replaced by a Classic.

  3. Lovely. Pity it won't come out over here in the Old World.
  4. Ooh, that is obscene. If the price wasn't as well, then I'd buy one. In the UK, not sure about anywhere else, Pukka Pads are basic but good, with smooth paper.
  5. My liking for your post is twofold: 1) you accurately named an event in human prehistory; and 2) you appropriately and correctly implied domestication in conjunction with said prehistoric event -- in parallel with standard belief that domestication came as a result from the sedentism of the Neolithic -- in this case substituting the resource of fauna and/or flora with that of numbers.Do you have an interest in archaeology, or was that just a free-floating fact you know? You scare me sometimes... 'Twas just one of those free-floating facts, but how we turned from another species of primate, albeit an intelligent one with the advantage of opposable thumbs, to the world-dominating, self-destroying rabble that we are now is always interesting.
  6. That's what you think. We herded them that way first and that resulted in the starting of the Neolithic Revolution.
  7. Oh my Gourd! What an historic day for The Alfredo. And my 1001st post! Go subjective human-made numeric intervals that are meaningless outside of this specific society!
  8. I'm very bored. We have study leave and my next exam is on the first, but I must revise endlessly, and the revision sessions that I've been going to have resulted in many a wasted day... .:EDIT:. Thousandth post! Random numeric interval imbued with special meaning by human society and human society alone!
  9. Swine flu? H1N1, the same flu that everyone over here gets every year or so. The only reason it's been killing in Mexico is because of the relatively poor healthcare there compared to its MEDC neighbour, and Europe: where there's decent healthcare we'll be fine.
  10. Why is it necessary? All a keyboard needs is a good spring and a clack that will annoy the neighbours. The old IBM ones spring to mind although the M$ wireless that I'm using is pretty good.
  11. Now he is what I want to be when I leave school! Screw you, pharmacology or perhaps biochemistry!
  12. Get this, get this... I have a generic beige box with hardware from yesteryear inside, with a cheapish monitor my grandfather gave me, a normal keyboard that goes clickety-clack when you press down on the buttons, and a perfectly serviceable mouse! Far out, huh?
  13. That is really not too off-topic. And is really too tantalising. I shall track down this computing giant and repatriate it into my bedroom.
  14. My room is a stack of papers that engulfs all in it. I tried once to get some shelves put up, and some little boxes for the paper, but they were amalgamated into the paper. My room contains the results of virtually all logging since 1024.
  15. Rant: 5 hours of homework, impeding GCSEs, French oral exam in one and a bit weeks for which I haven't prepared, people can't leave me alone, backache from carrying 75kg+ of pointless books on my back up a steep hill.
  16. Ah, the background music. There was some brilliant jazz in Unleashed when you went out.
  17. Meh, maybe not self-promoting. I like the "If you think this place is dead, then try here!" bit though.
  18. I just love the self-promoting here. Plus, Stevo: we're not a large forum, but we make up for that in community spirit. If you dislike this type of forum, and would prefer to be somewhere with millions of members who barely know each others' names, feel free to go there.
  19. As a child, he was bullied by an Opentype font in the grade above him.
  20. Fun for a few hours, until you complete it and have no reason to pick it up ever again. It has zero replay value: no hidden treasure, no alternate modes, nothing. It's a cool concept though, and a good one to rent.
  21. ... Until you complete it in five minutes and then find that it has zero replay value.
