Paint.net is not an animation program, however you can use PDN to make frames, save them as gifs and use a free program like UnFREEz to animate them. See my avatar for an example.

Looks good , you could try making the gradient layer look more like this= Or you could forgo the gradient all together, considering the way your image turned out I don't think you would lose much. Other than that it looks perfect.
