  1. For OotF #12, we're doing 'Non-opaque Perfume Bottle'. This doesn't necessarily mean transparent; it could be colored plastic/glass for example.

Please don't forget to crop/resize your entry to fit within the 600x600 size limited. In the last two competitions, we had some that were 800x600. I was feeling generous, so I cropped them in order to save them from disqualification. :P

    Obligatory video:

  2. Object of the Fortnight #12 – Non-opaque Perfume Bottle

The deadline for entries is 0500 UTC (5:00 AM UK Time) on Saturday, September 23.
Please see the Countdown Timer for exact time remaining.

    Competition Rules:

    1. Your entry must not have a background/backdrop/scene; just the object on a transparent canvas. Shadows are fine.

    2. Your entry must be 100% made using Paint.net. Don't use another image editor. Don't use stock images/photos (in full or parts thereof).

    3. Max dimensions are 600x600.

    4. You may modify or replace your image until the deadline.

    5. Multiple entries per entrant are allowed. Make a separate post for each one.

You may link to alternative versions, but they will not be part of your entry.

This thread is for posting competition entries only. If you're not posting an entry, don't post here.
If you want to talk about any of the entries, or ask a question regarding the competition, you can do so in the discussion thread found here.

Just wanted to let you know that I was successful in copying and pasting relevant code into a template I created per BB's instructions.

Sometime in the future, I want to look into automating that process.  i.e. You'll be able to import non-PdnShape XAML files into ShapeMaker.

Attempting to add the bookmark works but generates the error again.

Oops... yeah I broke that in v1.2.0.3.

    Version 1.2.0.4 has been posted.

Okay, if you run an Effect from within the Plugin Browser, that Effect is NOT listed in the History dialog, rather the Plugin Browser "Effect" is listed.

The Effect name property can only be set during initialization, and is otherwise readonly. We couldn't change it even if we wanted to.

Would you mind if I could have a look at the sources? Or debug this part as I have the problem myself with my configuration?

I already got it fixed over the weekend, and I will be posting an update in the coming days with additional fixes. I'll send you a pre-release later today when I get home.

As an example , the authors of this plugin could help us by adding a space between the number so comma not followed by a space is a decimal mark and must be replaced by a dot.

No, we're just going to fix the bug, so you won't need to edit the XML files.

  7. Is that paint.net v4.0.0? You should update to v4.0.17.

Out of curiosity, I opened a 26.5 Megapixel photo in several popular editors (paint.net v4.0.17, GIMP v 2.9.6, Krita v 3.2.1, and Photoshop CS 6, MS Paint).

Aside from Photoshop, all of them experienced similar lag.  Photoshop probably uses a proxy image during those move operations.

Create a shape with Circles. 3 or 4 should be enough. Save as Shape. Rotate the current shape 30°. Import the shape you just saved and see how it renames the circles.

Wow... importing of Ellipses from shape files is just broken.

You can set reference points to decimal places. a snap to grid at .25 would ensure lines are even each side of the shape.

Okay, I see. I investigate this, and see if it makes sense to implement. There's at least two other bugs in regards to decimal points in shape files that will need to be fixed first.

    a 16X zoom is what I meant.

I can zoom to any arbitrary zoom-factor by simply changing the integer value, but 16x seems a bit excessive. You'll need to convince me of its merit.

If there is a bug, why then is it still working for some of us?

It's a bug that only affects certain regions. Specifically, the regions that use a comma for the decimal point.

Quit teasing. It's been three months!

And very little has been done in those three months. :(

Is it designed to allow the import of more than one shape at a time?

Was it designed to allow more than one? It works, so assume it was, but you'd have to ask TR.

It does seem to work well but once in awhile the nubs get a little mixed up.

Mixed up how? Please share the details.

There are times when exporting the shape - it increases the grid to 1000X1000 which results in a file that cannot be imported back into Shapemaker.

Hmm, I wasn't even aware of it increasing the size to 1000x1000. I'll look into what's going on there.

An increase snap to grid size - scalable would be nice - anything from .10 to .25 would allow more detailed shapes

When you're at 8x zoom, the grid has a line for each pixel in the 500x500 canvas.

    or perhaps I misunderstood you.

A higher zoom as well for these old eyes

Do you want to zoom into the canvas more, or do what the Path lines to be thicker?

the rotation knob could use a snap to 5 degree increments - or a slider control that allows arrow key adjustments.

Since we're already using the Shift key to snap to 15 degrees, you could use the Alt key for 5 degrees.

There shouldn't be any reason why we couldn't use the Arrow keys on the knob.

the xml file isn't loading the settings your screenshot shows.  That's by the by though, nice easy tut to follow

That's a bug with Shape3D; it doesn't know how to handle a mismatch with the localized decimal points in the XML file.

i.e. The XML file was made on a computer with the decimal set to a comma, but your computer has the decimal set to a dot.

I'll talk to ERR about getting this fixed in Shape3D.

In the mean time, you can change your decimal point settings, or simply modify the XML file.
