  1. Ok, thanks. I did look so that's why I couldn't find it!
  2. Hello. I've been using PDN for years now and have never had cause to re-size numerous images until I got my iPhone 4S. It takes photos of all diffrent sizes and at the moment I can only re-size them one by one. Is there any way in PDN that I can re-size a batch in one go? I know there are aps that claim to do this but I'd much rather use PDN. Many thanks.
  3. Thanks Sarkut. I feel like such an idiot now! I thought it would be something simple, but not quite that simple.
  4. Hello. I'm presently trying to put together a seven day food diary into one image. Each day is currently one scanned image of the diary so I presently seven in all. Each image is nicely cropped and re-sized, being 1000 wide by around 1440 in height. I plan to place the heading (Food Diary: 17th March 2010 - 23rd March 2010), sub-headings (Day 1, Day 2 etc) and images onto separate layers so that I can move each layer about so that everything is just right. Simple in theory, something which I've done numerous times before but not on such a large scale. Taking into account some space for the heading, sub-headings plus the seven images, I calculated the canvas size to be 1000 x 10199. I then generated a blank canvas of this size which was shown on screen at 6% of it's actual size. As you can imagine, it's just a long thin white line. So for a better view, I zoomed in to around 66%, and entered the heading and first sub-heading onto separate layers with no problems. But when I tried to enter the first image (Layers > Import From File) on another layer, nothing appeared on the canvas though the layer showed on in the 'layers' window. However, if I zoomed out to 6% again so that the entire canvas was shown, the image was there at the top of the canvas but way to small to do anything with, never mind read. Basically, I need the images to be big enough so that I can correctly align them, but I can't do this as the image on the canvas is not show unless the whole canvas is in the screen, then it's too small. I would be grateful if someone could point out where I'm going wrong here. Sorry for the longwindedness, but I thought it best to try to fully explain what I was trying to do and the problem that I was having. Thanks. Glynn.
  5. Thanks for the replies gents. Sorted. I've updated PDN to 3.5.4 and installed Kris's effects.
  6. Thanks for the reply. You're right, there is a setup.exe file in amongst all the unzipped stuff. However, when I try to run it, I get another dialogue box which says that "You must have Paint.NET to install CustomBrushesMini." Of course, I already have PDN, so I'm not sure what the issue is here. Any ideas. Thanks. Glynn.
  7. Every time I was opening PDN, I got a dialogue box saying that v3.5 of the above was available. I downloaded the zip file and unzipped it to the effects folder in PDN. However, when I open PDN, I still get the dialogue box. I thought downloading and installing would stop the dialogue box appearing but it hasn't. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. Glynn.
  8. I must have missed that. Common sense now you mention it! Sorted now, thanks for your help.
  9. Just a quick update. I've disabled the User Account Control in Vista and can now save the .dll files in the effects folder. However, I'm still having trouble with the IcoCur file. It's in the effects folder but I still can't save the image as a .ico file. The option isn't showing when I go to 'Save As'. Has anyone got any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong. Thanks. Glynn.
  10. Hello all. I'm in the process of getting my new pc up and running and am trying to get my PDN plugins sorted. However, when I go to save or extract the downloaded files into the effects folder, I get the following message: I am an administrator on this pc so am unsure why this is occurring. I have spent the last half hour searching other threads but couldn't come up with the solution, hence the cry for help. Sorry if I've missed it. The OS is Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I know the above image relates to the .txt file but it's the same for the .dll file. I never had this problem on my old laptop which was running XP. It's probably a Vista issue but I have double checked and I am an administrator. Anyone any ideas as to what's causing it? Thanks. Glynn.
  11. I'm trying to apply the drop shadow effect to an image but am getting the following error report even after restarting PDN. File: C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects\Drop Shadow.dll Effect Name: Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowEffect Full error message: System.MethodAccessException: PaintDotNet.ColorWheel..ctor() at Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowConfigDialog.InitializeComponent() at Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowConfigDialog..ctor() at Vandermotten.PaintDotNetEffects.DropShadowEffect.CreateConfigDialog() at PaintDotNet.Menus.EffectMenuBase.RunEffect(Type effectType) Anyone else had this problem.
  12. Aside from the capabilities and the regular addition of new plug-ins for PDN which we all know for a free application, are fantastic, I have often thought of these boards as one of the best, if not the best 'policed' (dunno if that's the right word, but you know what I mean) boards that I use. The mods do a great job in keeping things neat and tidy, whist at the same time being polite and helpful. 'Officer' Atwell, springs to mind when I write this, but not forgetting the others. Not to mention the invaluable help offered by all it's knowledgeable members. The only blot on this was the complaints of 'biting newcomers' which was swiftly dealt with and is no longer an issue. I just thought that I would add my views since somebody else brought up the subject. Keep up the good work everyone!
  13. Take a look at Myrddin's tutorial here which explains how to add images to your posts. It's always best to add one if your asking for advice on how to create an effect so that folk know what you're looking for. As for your 'glow enquiry', I'll let other more knowledgeable members answer that one. Trust me, there are many of them!
  14. Nice one. I'd been wondering how that effect was achieved but hadn't got round to asking about it. Now I know!
  15. You've just got to be really careful that you're following each step in the tutorial that Curmudgeon posted. I know it can be difficult, I've had that problem where I just cannot get the desired result even though I think I'm following the tutorial to the letter. Sometimes the author assumes a certain knowledge of PDN in the more advanced tutorials which a novice has not got. To be fair though, the authors often state the skill level required to complete it, so if it's for advanced users, then the novice is well advised to steer clear and concentrate on the simpler ones. The 'cutting out' tutorial is pretty comprehensive and I can't see anything that is 'assumed' by the author. It's a really good step by step guide. From what you are saying, you're managing to get the outline around the head, but then are unable to remove the unwanted bits, just to leave the head. Are you sure you're inverting your selection after selecting the head with the magic wand tool and selecting the background layer? When you invert the selection, the unwanted part of the image is selected and then it's just a case of hitting the delete key to get rid of the unwanted bit. You should just have the head left which you should then save as a .png file. It's just a case of playing around and practising. All will become clear eventually. It just takes time and patience.
  16. Once you've removed the child's head (that sounds terrible!) save it as a .png file. Then open the image in PDN that you want to add the head to. Next, add the head by going to Layers > Import From File, and find the head that you just cut out and double click it. It will now appear in the layer above your original image. Move it to where you want by using the 'move selected pixels' tool. It's important to save the head as .png so that any surrounding area is transparent meaning you will still be able to see the main image. That's the way I would probably do it, or you could do it ikid's way.
  17. Thanks for the quick reply David. Got it now. Sorry about posting in the wrong place.
  18. Hello. The feather effect from the 'Effects' drop down menu has gone. I seem to remember it being under 'Blurs' but I can't see it now. the dll file is in c:/program files/Paint.NET/effects but I'm not getting the option. This happend after I installed the latest version of the feather effect. Any ideas?
  19. Why don't you just crop the original picture so that the runner on the left is got rid of after the crop? Leave the 'Friends' logo where it is as it will be then in the middle of your roughly square final picture. That's just my first thought. It seems a lot easier than using the clone stamp tool.
  20. ncfan51 - I clicked on the link for your website and got 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'. Is your site down?
  21. Looks good and I can see his right eye. But do you know what a 'Silver Surfer' is in the UK? The term is used to describe an older person who uses the internet so the text raises a chuckle with me
  22. The game would be good - "Insert coin" and all that. It must have been one of the first games to have a 'voice'.
  23. Ok, thanks. I've not seen it, just Googled it after I'd looked at the thread.
