  1. Wow, I can see it's going to take me a while to learn how to use this awesome program! There are so many hidden features and tricks. Here's my first attempt (this is eventually going to be a banner for my Lord of the Rings Online kinship page:
  2. Ah, I see. I didn't have any idea what that tool was, but it's actually kind of important. Thanks!
  3. Can anyone recommend an approach to creating an animated image by morphing two source images? I'm checking out Morpheus now, but I was curious if PDN has any support for it. Thanks.
  4. Ok, that let me select the text, and copy it onto a new (transparent) layer, thanks!
  5. Ok, I must be doing something wrong. I have a simple image, white background with some blue text on it. I want to remove the white; i.e., make it fully transparent. I tried using the Recolor tool. I changed by Primary color to have a Transparency - Alpha of 0. I right-clicked on the background to set my Secondary to white. I left-clicked (and ctrl-left-clicked) to try and change it. I was expecting the background to change from white to transparent (checkered), but I could only get it to work if I used a non-transparent color. I also tried the Paint Bucket (fill) tool, but had similar results. Using the Eraser tool worked, but that's a slow process, and prone to error. So, what am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help, -J
  6. The worked great for me, thanks very much! I used the Gradients... plugin, Square, and just kept duplicating until it looked good to me. I've got one more question, but it's unrelated, so I'll make a new topic.
  7. Thanks for quick response, Extra! Those are great effects. I think the 4th one is the one I'm looking for. I'm still not knowledgable enough to follow most of the tutorials, but I'll try; that one looks pretty easy. Thanks again, -J
  8. Hi... I'm new to Paint.NET. Great program, but I could not find any way to search/index the help pages. I tried searching the forum, but the relevant topics assumed I knew how to do certain steps, which I do not. I have a simple requirement (I think). I have a picture, and I'd like to either add a border to it, or change its edge pixels to become a border. Perhaps like a 3D-ish effect. Perhaps with a drop shadow. Is there a way to "bevel" the edge? Is there a tool or plugin to do this? It seems like such a common thing, I must be missing something. The closest I got was increasing the canvas size, while leaving the image centered. Thank you!
