  1. Hi there! I really like this plugin, but in the update, the mix alpha feature confuses me. If I have a layer below the one I am masking, isn't it going to affect the one I am masking when checking off the mix alpha, or will an imported layer above the masked layer be affected? Sorry if this has been explained before, it is possible I didn't get it.
  2. Well of course everyone should get 7z. But... they're not going to. You know it, I know it. Or try Jzip which is a gui for 7-Zip that makes it more user friendly. Thanks for the link, carbonize! I found some files on the web that I could only use 7zip for extraction, but the interface wasn't as nice as filzip or winrar. So, now my default extractor is J-Zip!
  3. Dave Atwell mentioned in another background removal thread (look in the tutorial section) that internet explorer 6 sometimes has an issue with this, so maybe using firefox will help with posting images. Also, if you have an image and it's centered on the canvas, it needs to have some kind of background color, not necessarily be transparent.
  4. Well, I find the best result for pics is to first try the auto level feature. If this doesn't work try leveling manually. Then try shadow /highlight recovery. Sometimes this new tool will do funny things to the coloring of your picture, sometimes pushing the coloring so much it looks artifical. Also, if you have 256 ram or less on your comp, it works slow on a 5mp picture. Yes! Experiment! That is how we learn!
  5. Wow! Never seen so many plugins posted together before! I tip my hat to you and other people willing to learn code and make these awesome plugins. This is what will make Paint.Net the best image editing program around, as well as the community that exists here! The streamlined layout that Paint.Net has does'nt hurt as well.
  6. Well of course everyone should get 7z. But... they're not going to. You know it, I know it. Or try Jzip which is a gui for 7-Zip that makes it more user friendly. Definately some nice plugins in this pack. I must be smarter than I think I am, because I can use 7-Zip easily. If anyone would like a walkthrough, let me know. If you like the features of WinRar, but are annoyed by the popups, get Filzip. Its free, and has a similar layout to Winrar. And it's green, if that's an added bonus to you.http://www.filzip.com/en/index.html
  7. Sorry, got off on a tangent, seeing that you had some insight on the Outline Plugin.
  8. I just tried using that particular plugin, and nothing happened. I first took a picture, then used the lasso to highlight the selected area. It rendered but nothing changed in the picture. Then I made a design and highlighted the area with a different color, ran the plugin again, and nothing happened. I am using 3.10 version. Whoops! I think I figured this out. If there is a transparent area showing around your image/object that you want highlighted, then this plugin will create around it. Is this how it works?
  9. This may be a silly question, but would this bevel plugin provide a line around a person in a picture? I have seen it done in some Photoshop manips, and am trying to figure out how it's done. If a rounded bevel is it, I can't wait to try it!
  10. I tried both yours and Rick's suggestions. The easiest solution was surface blur. I found the Greycstoration wrapper after using the search feature on the forum. I think Bolt Bait had it on Wet Paint because the plugin forum disappeared, or something to that effect. I downloaded the Wrapper, and though it works well, my 256 ram comp goes sooo slooow to render it. I will just have to get a better camera, or learn to take better pictures! Thanks for your help. -Nick
  11. I looked for the Greycstoration Wrapper plugin on that section on the forum, no luck. Thanks Rick, also, for your suggestion.
  12. I did a search for a despeckle plugin on the paint.net search, and there was no definite answer on how to do it. I didn't go futher on that thread because it was a year old, so I shall bring it up again. It would be a cool plugin, and I don't want to use another free program such as GIMP because its interface is horrible  , and Paint.net is awesome! If there is no plugin in the works, could someone guide me in using the tools necessary to bring about a similar effect to an image. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  13. I just wanted to add that the adjustments tab is where you will find the dll once you drop it in the effects folder of paint.net. This is located in local disk (C:)-program files. Then restart the program if it was running during the install of the dll. It is awesome, better than photoshop plugin, though a little slower.
  14. Hey guys! This plugin plays well with others! I recently tried it with the transparency plugin, as well as the gaussian blur channel. If anyone is interested I'll post it in the gallery.
  15. Thanks Tanel! I had previously tried selecting an area of a picture, and did notice that it rendered quicker. I ran jpeg clean to shrink the file size and didn't change the speed at which it rendered. I think it ran quicker when I pressed review and then adjusted my image. And I figured my lack of ram was the problem. I guess I'll have to stop being so cheap and buy more ram!
  16. Hi everyone! I agree this is an awesome plugin, similar to the one I use in HP photo printing, just more detailed. The only problem I have run into is that it takes forever to render the changes I make with it. Are my computer settings off (more virtual ram needed, not pressing the review button correctly, etc.) or is this due to the way the plugin was coded (I think I read in another thread a plugin took too long to render due to the source code). Any advice would be helpful. Thanks! I am using a Dell 4400, pentium 4 processor, 1.7ghz, 256 ram, nvidia geforce 2 graphics card.
  17. not when the PNG is compressed with PNGOUT. not even HD Photo beats that.I found PNGOUT and couldn't get it to work. PNGGauntlet, though it doesn't compress as well as PNGOUT (even though it's a gui for PNGOUT), compresses better than HD Photo. Plus you don't need a special viewer to see the pics.
  18. Alright, I downloaded and installed this dll into the file types folder in Paint.net, looked for a unblock feature in properties, and there was none. I have shut down and restarted Paint.net, because that is what is needed for most plugins, and the file extension is not present. Should I restart the computer? I have already installed net 3.0, and I am using paint.net 3.8! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
  19. Thanks BoltBait! I can definitely use this. Maybe I will make my cat talk, since she talks to me anyways!
  20. I couldn't find a tutorial for this, but I saw a balloon with text inside for a caption for Stella the cat, and it was cool. I think one of the moderators did it. Can someone write up a tutorial please?
  21. I have found a great use to this plugin! I know people have told me I could make a planet without it, but it is so easy to do it this way! Yes, I am an amateur. I took a snapshot from my favorite tv show and made it a planet. The sphere looks good. I hope I have the creativity some of you other guys do to put it to good use! Thanks MKT!
  22. OMG! Awesome plugin! What free imaging program has this? I can finally create a planet/moon. Unfortunately, even though it's in English, which helps a lot, it will take me time to figure out what I want to do and how to do it! Time to make a new sig!
  23. Hi out there! I didn't see it posted on this thread, but in Computer Shopper's May issue, 50 free downloads, one of the programs on the disc included with this issue was Paint.net 3.0! And Rick or Eric, this was six dollars instead of nine! Sorry for the extra three dollars you spent! And thanks for the mention in your blog !
