  1. OK, fixed the mockup above displaying more realistic width/height/resolution values. Note however that the dialog is actually unable to display Resolution in DPI (Pixels/inch) and Print size in Centimeters at the same time... It's either using centimeter or inch in both. These could with benefit been de-linked as it is common to measure resolution in DPI (pixel pr inch) while the document (print size) is measured in mm...
  2. This thread clearly shows that many people are more familiar with terms like "Photo size 10x15 in Photo Quality" than pixels and resolution - and this suggestion would hide the complications: A "Document Size" Drop down that lists all common document sizes (could be a rather long list...). A "Print Quality" Drop down that emphasize on the Quality you want (And lists only relevant qualities). Select Document Size and Quality, and the relevant magic numbers would be populated below. Just a suggestion...
  3. I have also noticed that this merge layer down thingy is a bit weird. If I have the following layers Layer3 Layer2 (copy3) Layer2 (copy2) Layer2 (copy1) Layer1 …then select the top Layer2 (copy3), and click Merge Down; Now Layer2 (copy3) is merged down into Layer2 (copy2) - as expected, but the active layer is changed to Layer3… where did that come from? I would expect the layer I just merged down to remain active (so that I just can hit the Merge Down twice to merge all Layer2 copies into one Layer2). So actually - a layer not involved in my merge down operation is the one that is selected as active layer after the operation… I find this very counter intuitive in an otherwise very nice application. Could this be changed in a future version?
  4. I’m just wondering about the design of the Color Wheel… It seems to me like the color wheel is a circular HSV representation of the color space without the V component. We can easily select Hue and Saturation, while Value or “brightnessâ€

  6. This problem is very simple to reproduce: 1) Make a new image 2) Draw something on the background layer 3) Make a new layer (Layer 2) 4) Draw something on the new layer (e.g. a red line) 5) Check how it was without the red line (Unselect the Visibility Check Box on Layer 2 6) Show layer 2 again, (Select the Visibility Check Box on Layer 2) 7) Select an area containing a bit of the red line, and hit the Delete button Now what happened? Instead of modified red line I have a hole in the background! The problem is that on step 5) above, the next visible layer below (here background) is selected when visibility is turned off on a layer - and I didn't notice... I find this very annoying and lead to lots of undo's and redo's. A better approach would be to let visibility and selection of layers to be un-related functionalities. The worst thing that could happen is that I start painting on a hidden layer - but that is not as dangerous as I immediately would see that "nothing happens", so I would either turn on the layer, or undo the last step and carry on.
  7. Just to clarify my understanding (and wish) for this feature; 1) User is working on a Paint.Net image with layers and all (e.g myImage.pdn) 2) User select “Save as Copyâ€
  8. My vote goes for Photoshop's "Save as Copy", Ctrl-Alt-S, but I'm more than happy just to get the function - whatever it is called Anyway when implementing this, can you please keep the last used filetype as pre-selected in the Save As Copy Dialog, so that when I need to "Save As Copy" then I do not need to select Jpg (or whatever) every time... Thanks, Gabe
  9. I'm trying to use Paint.Net for some professional work, (I frequently need to import finetuned graphics to Visio) but the lack of a proper Export function makes it cumbersome. I have tried the "Save As" + "Undo" as a substitute of Export, but it is a poor solution as Paint.Net keeps the new "Save as" filename even after the Undo. So, instead of one "master file", which I export from, I end up with a working document constantly changing name - or I have to Save As and Replace Existing file after every "Save As Jpg" operation... anyway - it's a lot of annoying clicking which easily could have been avoided with a simple Export (or "save a copy") function. I would just make a point that I feel a dedicated Export function that do not mess around with the layers/file name is a reasonable feature - and I really wish you could find time to implement this. Thanks and Regards, Gabe
