  1. Very few people have issues with the plugin system, and once you have done it once it will seem like second nature.

Make sure you're following these instructions to a T.  Also, ensure that you're looking in the right spot in the Paint.NET interface for the plugin.

If you have further questions, you can feel free to ask them in that thread or in this one.

The workflow you've described really isn't possible with user-generated plugins, and would make a simple process rather complicated.  As it stands, the DLL just needs to make it into the Paint.NET/Effects folder, and it will be picked up by the program at the next restart.

All of that being said, a plugin browser has been tossed around for a while and will hopefully make an appearance eventually!

Let us know if you need any more assistance.

  2. Unfortunately, Paint.NET doesn't feature "true" drawing tablet support - it's basically treating the pen tablet like a mouse input because it doesn't know how to deal with it any other way.

The angles you're getting come from the slow refresh of the mouse input tracker.  It's not a Paint.NET bug, it's just the way that particular functionality works on the system.

Better drawing tablet implementation is something that is being considered for a future release, but as for now there's really no way to fix it.  I'd recommend drawing it out on Paint or SmoothDraw and importing it into Paint.NET, which I assume is what you're already doing.

  3. Where did you download it from?  If it wasn't from getpaint.net, you should delete the file you downloaded and re-download the legitimate file.

Second, how are you extracting it?  You should use the built-in Windows extractor for most consistent results.

  4. I honestly feel bad for newbies right now, because some of them make new topics, but then they lose their topics in a sea of spam, unable to know where their posts went and what just happened (most newbies don't instantly realize that they can find their posts from their profile.) I hope we all manage to survive in the end. :lightning:

BTW, the place where one can find one's posts might be mentioned in The Rules, also -- because this software is different from a number of forae I know, and I didn't know where to find them until someone mentioned it.

Good call. Added a note to that effect up top.

Many thanks to Admins and Moderators! (In the old days, ya'll were called Sysops (system operator), with a Wizop (wizard operator) at the head.)

BoltBait, EER, and Pyro are sysops. I'm more like the guy with the mop bucket.   ;)  Just consider this thread a Wet Floor sign.

    Hey everybody!

So, you may have noticed that there's been a lot of spam around here recently.  Sorry about that.  Looks like some Korean spammer has identified us as a good dumping ground for their Google-gaming.  (If you're one of those spammers, Hi!  Get out.)

The mod staff has tried several things to stem the tide, which I won't go into here, but we do want to be sensitive to legitimate users joining for legitimate reasons.  In the meantime, we're just playing whack-a-mole with the spammers.  Please bear with us; we have moderators covering most of the globe, so if there's spam there's probably a moderator available soon to take it down.  We're doing our best, but we're humans and they're robots, so it's going to be a difficult battle.

If there are any updates that we feel the community should know, we'll make them in this thread.  (And seriously, spammers?  Out.  Now.)

Lots of spam? Can't find your post?

If your question is buried under tons of spam, we're sorry. Rest assured, there will be a mod around soon to get rid of it. In the meantime, you can find your post by clicking your username in the top-right corner of the site, then hitting "Your Content." All of your posts should be there. Thanks for bearing with us!

Incidentally, as of December 8, our mod staff had zapped over 10,000 posts from hundreds of spam accounts.

  6. OK, let me start by saying that I really do appreciate and like your PDN plugins very much. I also have tested a few "Content aware resize filters" in various programs, to be truthful, I'm not sold on the merits of this type of filter.

It allows you to resize the image significantly while keeping the subject and other objects in the image at full size within the frame. It's actually very useful.
  7. <chuckle> I've seen a number of comments on "read the directions for writing a tutorial," so there's some control.

Well, guidelines aren't the same thing as control.  I wrote the guidelines, I've seen how many times they've been broken.  :)

The only way to be sure that people are following all the rules to the letter is to individually approve each post, and as you noted....

I acknowledge that Forum run by volunteers has to have limitations on what the moderators must accomplish, or the moderators would have no time to themselves.Y'all gotta sleep sometime! And then there's silly things like day jobs and families....

My one-year-old does not understand what it means to moderate a forum.  Silly kid.  ;)

  8. Yes, that is exactly what was happening.  I've cleared it out.  Things should be back to normal now.

Side note: Please watch your language.  This is a family friendly forum.

Side note 2: if you want to find a thread you've posted previously, click on your username in the top right corner of the page, then hit "My Content."  You'll see a list of all your threads there.
