This tutorial is available as a PDF. Click here to view or download it Even though thermal imaging does look different from this it does give it a look of thermal imaging. It fades from purple to red or fading from cold then to hot. To do this tutorial you will need to install the Gradient Mapping plugin. For any questions about the Gradient Mapping plug-in please consult that thread. [Images and text provided by @ReMake] 1. Open the image you wish to use. 2. Open Gradient Mapping (Adjustments -> Gradient Mapping). Then add the colors like the picture below. Go from Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red. Remember to spread the colors. 3. Click OK and you should have your finished product. You can use these settings as a preset. Unzip this file [ThermalImage.zip] it and place it to Documents -> paint.net User Files -> Effect Presets -> Gradient Mapping

It kept crashing on me the first time I tried it. So I decided to reinstall it. Second time around I noticed that there was two dll's. Once I installed both of them it worked perfectly. I could be totally wrong though with what I'm swinging at. For all I know you are having troubles getting a gradient made.

I had a picture of a grasshopper for some reason. Anyway I did this by changing the layers properties to additive then duplicating the picture three times. Then doing an edge detect at 0,90,180, and -90. Flatten and Sharpen at max. You can kinda get the same results by doing an Outline with intensity at 100 and thickness at 1 or 2. Then invert colors, duplicate layer, change layer properties to additive, flatten, sharpen at max. If you didn't get a thing I just said I'm sorry. I'm also sorry about the grammar. -

Using Madjiks new Bars_H plug-in. I was able to make, in my opinion, a neat little border. Edit: Changed the pic from PNG to JPEG -

It does a pretty good border. I'll put the results in the pictorium later.

Ash your spacescape is freaking awesome. I would love a 1024 x 768 or 1152 x 864 of that image so i could use it as a background. -

Even though I didn't follow the sunset tut Ash made to the T, I still got a desirable result. BTW if you look at the bottom the reflection just kind of stops. I didn't notice this just till now posting it here. It's okay though because when it's my background the taskbar covers it up. -
