It basically said you don't have permission to do anything with this file. I eventually did a restart and the file is no longer on my desktop. No idea what it was, though.

I have just saved a photo and the file name is Untitled.png.0.pdnBak. Now I find that I can't delete it, move it or change the permissions. How do I get rid of it, please? TIA

David, I did say my system was running Vista, so the XP problems are not my concern. It seems I am stuck with the older version of PDN. That is just my bad luck, I suppose.

I was so happy to see the latest release of PDN and then so VERY unhappy to find that the program will only run on Windows 7 or later. What about us poor dinosaurs who still run Vista, in my case, or even XP for others? As a disabled person on a pension, I can afford neither a new computer nor to purchase Windows 7 to upgrade my system. I think this is most unfair and deprives us of the new features available with this version.

I downloaded and installed a Hebrew font today. The font does show up in the drop down box, but when I type, what shows up is just regular letters and numbers. Do I have to have a specifically Hebrew keyboard for this, or does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

That didn't work. The size of the layer is 1024 x 763, and that is the size I made the canvas. I also clicked on Anchor and the middle square. The photo is still in the top left corner after I add the layer.

I have a photo 370 x 206 pxs which I want to stay in the centre of the workscreen after I add a layer 3200 x 2400 on top of it. However, after adding the new layer the photo is transported to the top left corner and I can't work out how to move it back. I want it to show through a cut-out in the layer. Can someone help, please? Thanks

Hi, all, Please can anyone help me get my colours window back into the PDN screen? I can barely see the edge of it at the far left of my monitor screen, but I can't 'get hold ' of it to pull it back into view. I know it's there because it toggles in and out with the Window,Colours menu. Right now I'm stuck with 'basic black'! Cheers

I don't find the help file to be of much help, to be honest with you. It is cumbersome and difficult to navigate. Sorry. :?

You can also get Apophysis. http://www.apophysis.org It is a really good prog. Free, easy to install, a wonderful user group and tons of tutorials to help you get started. Cheers

Hi, Dan and Rainshadow, Poor Rick....I am sure it is extremely difficult to keep up with the requests for changes, improvements and such to the program. That being said, there are a number of other programs which are more user-friendly, Zoom Draw comes immediately to mind. I chose to go with Paint.net because of the advanced features it offers. However, in my case, advanced features tend to have advanced instructions, and that is what is bugging me. I don't find the online Help pages to be very useful and I really don't want to keep asking what probably seem to be basic, right under my nose questions. I am getting older and so my learning curve is diminishing. Soon it will diminish to the point of no return, I expect. Rainshadow (nice moniker) you mention using layers to achieve the effects I want. Unfortunately, that is part of the advanced instructions I haven't managed to figure out yet. I will continue reading the forum and plugging away at the program. Maybe a bright light will shine into the dark recesses of my mind. Sincere cheers, Kat

Hello, I see the little tip above this box.....Tip: Styles can be applied quickly to selected text. This does not apply to Paint.net. I cannot get the text to highlight. I cannot underline, italicise, make bold or change the font colour for just one section of text. I have figured out how to use a colour BEFORE I type text, but I cannot change the colour after it is typed. I cannot move the text around the page, even with the move selection pointer. It's a hell of a lot easier editing text on this post than it is in Paint.net. Cheers
