@jsonchiu: I think you may be exaggerating how much the guy cheated. Those things are probably caused by the 3D car model, lack of Antialiasing, and the fact that it was saved as a mid-quality JPEG. Though you may have something with the white border.
-
To make sure it was edited and not just pasted into PSE5, check when the image was created and then when it was last modified. If the dates are different, then you got yourself a rule breaker. If the dates are the same, you still may have a rule breaker, but you don't have as much evidence to support the case.
But either way, I do think it was Photoshoped.

I think all that needs to be done is to lower the color depth of the image, then outlining it. You'll especially need to save it as a GIF. All good pixel art is in GIF format.

Okay, nevermind my last post. Don't even look at it.
1. Ctrl+Shift+D
2. Ctrl+Shift+G
3. S (four times)
4. Click what you want
5. Ctrl+Shift+Delete
Translation: Duplicate the layer, make the top layer Black and White, select the magic wand, create your selection, and delete the black and white layer.

I know I discovered a way to do it (transforming the saturation value into black/white), but I forgot.
I'm sure someone can come up with a codelab script that can make full saturation white and low saturation black (BB is online right now...).

Grrr... I forgot about the contest and forgot to submit my entries (and finish my other one)...

You were gone?
Anywhose, I'm working on two things right now. An OpenMoko phone vector and a sig to go with it.

Hey, Rick one thing I would find very useful is if you made a custom Google Toolbar button (link) for the Paint.NET Search. I'm not likely to use anything else because I'm so minimalistic

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Paint.net/* (just added)
Thanks! I knew the Wikibook I started would one day be used for something!
-
That better be a "q" and not a "g"...
-
@Rick's last post: Try something like "Search the Paint.NET Database" or "Search Paint.NET-related web content".
Also, I just had a radical idea that will set Paint.NET apart from the rest, but my idea is still "in Alpha 1".

What is that? The Billionaire Theorem?
Google = 3 guys + a great idea = $25 billion
One guy makes all the difference
-
Sweet! It'll be of great help to all.
Suggestion: How about adding a little search bar in Paint.NET? I think it'll be great addition for the next release.

I hate going off topic, but:
In what way? I don't see any change except that they have a new [and switchable] UI....YouTube is rubbish now that before Google bought it... -
Hey uH, can you forward me that e-mail?
Forwarding...
As for money ... haha yeah, sure, for $1 BILLION, I'd sell out.I'd sell for $10,00
On an unrelated note, it feels kinda cool for Rick to call me "uH"

Yays for PDN!
Here's a quote from the CNET Download.com newsletter:
Photo management toolsBehold, the most popular photo management tools for the week ending August 12.
1. Paint.NET - Edit and enhance photos using advanced features found in professional software. With layers, effects, and a slew of other editing tools, this is a freeware gem indeed.
2. FastStone Image Viewer - This simple but powerful image browser, converter, and editor can handle all your image editing needs.
3. Picasa - An all-in-one digital photo application, Picasa scans your computer and digital cameras for images and organizes pictures into chronologically sorted albums.
4. Webshots Desktop - Managing and sharing your digital photos is easy with Webshots Desktop, which also explores other members' pictures, and lets you choose album photos for your screensavers and wallpaper.
5. Ulead CD & DVD Picture Show - The family favorite helps you turn your digital photos into professional DVD or CD slide shows dolled up with music and effects.
PDN=#1!
EDIT: Wow, we beat Picasa, a Google product!

Why yes, you can. It's my favorite thing in Paint.NET
I use these Alpha Chanel related plugins all the time:

Here's a good screenshot if Expression Blend:

I installed the origional beta of Expression a month ago and I like the colors, but not so much the icons and overall layout.

Nice job, hollander.
Would come in handy if you wanted to re-use it for a wallpaper or signature. At least it's better than your last one (the so-called five minute one), it wasn't the best you've done, to be honest.I think it's the worst avatar I've ever done. I think the reason is because it wasn't 100% Paint.NET. It was 100% Inkscape
-
I really don't think Rick will do anything like that anytime soon, though I'm pretty sure there will be a makeover for Paint.NET 4.0. Also, read the part about the Ribbon Interface in this announcement.
-
I was just about to mark this thread as "generic titled", but after reading it, the title seems appropriate.
Welcome to the forum! If you haven't yet, I highly recommend you to read the rules and the popular feature requests announcements (and maybe even the FAQ).
-
I have been fiddling around with the idea of vectorizing it...
-
I really want one. Can't you tell?
The avatar's image came from here. I opened and resized it in Paint.NET to find that the white text was burry and impossible to read. So I went through a seemingly endless process of cutting, pasting, alpha masking, and Curves+ing to replace it with larger, clearer text. I also had to do some minor repairs to the phone's edges.
-
You're talking about OpenMoko- the Linux-based smartphone OS.
I had gotten tired of looking at that 5 minute avatar, so I decided to make this (inspired by CMD's art).
How to tell if someone altered their image?

I think you should ask the creator [of the screenshot] if he, by any chance, edited the image in Photoshop because it "look like it was sharpened a bit". If he says "yeah, but only to resize the image", then he's more likely innocent then not. If he denies, then show him the proof.
