  1. Bingo..! That did the trick.. Danke mucho...
  2. The Move Pixels tool doesn't help either... When I use that, this happens:
  3. At this point, I don't even care about resizing the larger image. I can do that separately and that's fine. But I want to use a section of the un-resized larger image. But I can't move the image at all. That's a problem.[/i]
  4. Here's my background image - the first layer. Then I try to add a new, much larger image. It asks me if I want to expand the canvas. This is what happens when I click 'no'. It won't let me move or resize this image. If I click 'yes' to resize the canvas, my background becomes this: And it won't let me move or resize it. I'm completely stuck.
  5. That doesn't help.. somehow when I am adding the new layer, all that is getting added is a section of the new layer that is the size of the background... If I zoom out the section of the new layer just gets smaller along with everything else. When I move it, all that moves is a small square because that is all there is. The entire image isn't making it onto the new layer for some reason.
  6. But I want the image to stay large. I want a certain part of the large image over the background. But if I resize the canvas, the background becomes too small. If I resize the new layer all I get is a small portion of one corner.
  7. That defeats the purpose of having a photo manipulator in the first place. What I'm trying to do is get a middle section of the new layer over the background. If I just open the new image, the background image goes away. If I open it as a layer so I can make changes to it, I either get only a small portion of the new layer or I make the background too small. Is this making sense..? If all I wanted to do was resize the image I could use Irfanview.
  8. After pasting the new layer and all I have is one small corner, I see the circle at the corner and drag it to resize like I do with any other program. Except the entire image somehow didn't get pasted into the new layer. The new image is only a portion of the original image. Trying to resize it only reveals that the entire image didn't get pasted. This is very difficult to explain. I'll try to put up some screenshots...
  9. My background image is 400X600. The image I want to overlay is 1900x900. When I add the layer, it asks me if I want to resize the canvas. If I click yes, the canvas becomes 1900X900 and the background image stays 400X600 so it becomes very small. If I do not resize the canvas, the canvas stays 400X600 and the overlay stays 1900X900 and all I get is a small piece of the overlay. And I can't seem to resize the overlay or move it at all. does that make sense..?
  10. I've been using Paint.NET for about 20min and I have a problem. I looked thru the tutorials and such but I guess my issue is so simple that everyone else was able to figure it out on their own but me. When adding a layer that is much larger than the background, how do you resize the new layer so that you can see all of it over the background layer..? Resize doesn't seem to work. All it does is give me a little section of the new layer or make the background so small that it becomes useless. I am addled when it comes to photo-manip software. I don't have money for PS, GIMP just made me mad and now I can't seem to figure out what should be the easiest things about Paint.NET. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions here. Thanks..!
