  1. Tom Jackson has made a plugin for doing the fiery text from this tutorial.
  2. I'm calculating the distance from the center to define the blur amount. It is then more 'natural' to me to set the distance from the center...The other way (from the edge) will be to difficult to implemant! I was thinking that everything on the inside of the selection would be untouched and then the blur would start from the edge of the selection area.
  3. Just been playing with this and I noticed that the centering system is based on the full image even if you only have a small area selected. I did have a thought though but it's probably miles out. Couldn't this work by the user selecting the area to start the blur from and then blur from the edge of the selection outwards based upon the blur distance specified by the user?
  4. Pah when I requested the exact same thing at the start of November I hardly got any answers except from BoltBait about his Strip Primary Color plugin.
  5. I can't see animated gif dying anytime soon or even just normal gifs. Look at how long it took MS to fix the PNG support in IE to support transparency. It will be like if/when JPEG makes the new format based upon HD Photo. The photography industry might jump on it but it will take a while to become popular (although not as long as PNG).
  6. Because it's a Microsoft proprietary format. No it won't be. HD Photo is an MS format. JPEG XR will be open format same as JPG is and free to use.
  7. Next time I'll just use Google and tell it to only return results for this domain. Hopefully that will work.
  8. That would explain it. You think it would of just recompiled a new one on update.
  9. Still weird that search did not return anything for constantine despite the word clearly being in the post.
  10. lol that's the one. I just read your search master comment and couldn't help but here it being said in an Arnie voice. Ok Yorak's post on page 2 clearly says Constantine and yet it is not returned in a search for constantine nor did that thread come up in a search for hell despite hell being in a couple of posts. Edit by Ash: oh...and, Thank you ncfan51.
  11. The other night at work I found a tutorial on here about making a burning city or something similar. I remember that the first thing on the page was a picture of some houses but the rest of the images were on imageshack so blocked by my works proxy. I also remember someone commenting on the results looking like the hell from Constantine. I've gone through every page of the tutorials and even done a search for terms such as constantine, hell, town, village, city but with no luck. Anyone know the tutorial I am thinking of?
  12. Can't wait for HD Photo to become the new Jpg standard. JPGX I think they said they were going to call it. Of course it will probably be years until all browsers/computers support it.
  13. Well of course everyone should get 7z. But... they're not going to. You know it, I know it. Or try Jzip which is a gui for 7-Zip that makes it more user friendly. Definately some nice plugins in this pack.
  14. So pretty much every computer sold in the last six months if not the last year? I'm sure one of the other plug in makers can help you correct this bug.
  15. I can see myself using this plugin. Sometimes a DEEP emboss can be used to good effects. Used with something like Zoom Blur Delux on say squares you could make an array of blocks. As for PhotoBucket I can't access it at work as they have blocked that domain. It's fun trying to follow some of the tutorials when I can't see the images they have used
  16. Was just wondering a couple of things. 1 - Would it be possibly to make a plugin sub site that works like Firefox's extensions? Would make it easier to find what you want and they could be sorted out by type (render, distort etc). I'm sure some nice person could script this for you. 2 - Check for effect updates at PdN load ala Firefox. Not sure how you could do this one, possibly put the home page and version into the dll as a string. Would be up to the plugin maker to have a text file at the given url containing the version number on line 1 and url of the dll on line 2. Either that or check the last-modified header and compare against the last-modified/created date of the dll. Feel free to ignore my musings. I usually find it best to do so.
  17. So, at present, the plugin api for PdN does not allow for the creation of new layers nor the switching between them? Not a criticism just a question.
  18. Ok I tried it and it works great except on black. Removed every other colour just fine but not black for some reason.
  19. I believe this is also used in some of Gimp's scripts to do things like gradient fade around an image and to make a distressed selection.
  20. It's probably already been said but this would be great for peoples tutorials such as the Fire effect. As well as writing the tutorial they could include a script for running through ScriptLab to achieve the effect. I mean you wont learn by using a script but it's an idea.
  21. I'll try your DLL when I get home. Works proxy prevents me downloading zips, dlls etc. Strange thing is it only checks the extension of the requested file and not the actual mime type.
  22. Did a search and found nothing. Not sure that the Alpha Mask does this neither. Anyway GIMP has a Color to alpha option and a Select by Color which comes in useful sometimes. I was wondering if PdN has something similar (looked but not found anything) OR if someone could write a plug in to achieve this. It comes in useful for removing backgrounds and would be even better if it had a tolerance level for when you get artifacts in the image. A better description can be found at http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Changing_ ... d_Color_1/ and http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Changing_ ... d_Color_2/
  23. I was messing around with this and decided to play with the results. I used the Splinter blur plug-in (sorry can't remember which pack it came in) Number of splinters = 20 Distance = 100 Mode = Lighten and then sharpened it about 5 times. Looks like alien flowers to me.
  24. I've actually used this for the logo on my site redesign. You can see it at http://www.carbonize.co.uk/New You will see I cut out the text then redid the letters in black, blurred them, moved them down a layer and then flattened it.
