Second, if you can't scan, then maybe your scanner doesn't support WIA. You can check to see if you scanner supports WIA by verifying that it shows up in the "Scanners and Cameras" control panel. Some scanners or cameras require that special software or drivers be installed before they work with WIA.

Can you provide more info on the above quote? I am currently running Windows XP Home and I just installed the latest driver for the CanoScan. The D1230u scanner does not show up in the "Scanner and Cameras" control panel. Where would I find these drivers for WIA?

How do I get the Acquire function to recognize my Cannon CanoScan D123OU scanner? Currently Paint.net only recognizes my HP Office jet 5500. However, all my other programs recognize both the HP and the CanoScan. :?
