Yeah it is, and was error free at anything but full zoom. Edit: It seems that it's mostly that image (I just loaded a 2000*10000 image and it did what it was supposed to by not letting me zoom in more than 328%), which makes me feel rather silly for posting this. Sorry Rick, obviously feel free to lock.

Is there anything I can send you to help you figure out what went wrong so it won't go wrong for others? I can live with the errors at this point, but I'd like to see it get fixed in the next version.

Hello, I use Paint.NET 3.5.8 on Windows 7 Pro x64, with everything fully updated. After installing AutoCAD 2012 Electrical (Student), there were several glitches that cropped up in Paint.NET most notably that I could no longer zoom fully into an image and edit or even see the entire thing. For example I was trying to edit an image that is 1400*750. When I used [CRTL]+Scroll to zoom in as far as I could, it let me zoom in to 3200%. However it defaulted to an area that was at the edge of a 1024*550 rectangle set in the upper left corner of the image. I tired several times to scroll further down the image in full zoom, but Paint.NET refused to let me (it would however let me scroll further over using the scroll bars, but not edit anything outside of the above mentioned area). I have removed all plugins, uninstalled AutoCAD, reinstalled Paint.NET (both versions 3.5.7 and 3.5.8) and nothing has fixed this issue. To show what I am talking about I have uploaded the following files: (318k) (273k) The first is the error when zoomed in all the way, the second shows where I am in the image when zoomed out. As I noted above (in the topic description) Paint.NET will not even let me select 2400% as a zoom, and the scroll-to-zoom skips

Keep in mind, you cannot seek tech support for Paint.NET 3.10 on this forum. And I never have and never will. I have an install that works for me now, so I don't see any reason to upgrade.

8 bit PNG can be generated using The Opti-PNG plugin. But it's a bit of a work-around until the next version comes out.

Well Blast. I guess I'll be sticking with my 3.10 install and associated plug-in(s) for a while (I do understand why you are dropping it, I was just hoping that I would maybe forestall the inevitable). I would like to see that very much. The reason I voiced my opinion was that I much prefer your/Rick's Anti-Aliasing to that I've found in other freeware Icon editors (most notibly IcoFX).

I don't see the poll, but I would hate to see that dropped as it allows me to load up unique 16*16 sized images for that size of icon, which makes the icons look cleaner (AA'ed 16*16 icons look like junk most of the time).

The animation will have to be done with a different program, but you are going to need to select the areas that you want colored, then do a series of hue/saturation adjustments to them, and take the saturation on the rest of the image down to zero. Does this make sense?

Very Nice. I too have made a PDN icon for XP, but I haven't released it - but I'll put it up here for a bit - (Link removed) NOTE - This is the first time I've even shown this icon to anyone. This icon is NOT meant for public use (yet).

I personally use a program called Exifer, and while it isn't free, it is postcard-ware.

Uhm, where have you been for the past 6 years? XP and OS X both support 32 bit icons, and Vista even stores the 256*256 size as a PNG.

It was added with XP - I know Photoshop supports it, but GIMP doesn't. *shudders* Wikipedia Link. Also - Getting software that supports it is a rather medium-term project (ie. 2-6 months), so It's fine if you do decide to make it if it doesn't come out for a while, I know how schools can be.

Is there any plan to add 32 bit BMP/DIB support to PDN at any point? I as because if there is, then it would save me having to download several other programs for MSStyles editing. If not, then how hard would it be to implement it in a plugin?

The only program I've been able to open the icon with is IconWorkshop 5/6, and my free trials are used up so I can't get you a copy of what it should look like.

One thing to remember is that if the board you have your sig on has more than one skin, a border around your sig is a good idea.

I made these all up for another board where I am what I've put in the last sig banner.
