  1. Ouch... that sounds painful!! So if one font was bad then it could cause most of them to crash? Maybe it's one of those F fonts... I'll start looking there. Thanks!
  2. When trying to switch to any font above "F", I crash. I think maybe I have too many fonts for Paint .NET to handle? I did a quick font folder check and I have 338. I've included the crash file below. Sorry, the Spoiler thing didn't hide it unless clicked, and I couldn't attach it... so... code seemed the best way to go. This text file was created because Paint.NET crashed. Please e-mail this file to crashlog@getpaint.net so we can diagnose and fix the problem. Application version: Paint.NET v3.35 (Final Release build 3.35.3106.20184) Time of crash: 7/23/2008 11:58:03 AM Application uptime: 00:04:18.0312500 OS Version: 5.1.2600.131072 Service Pack 2 Workstation x86 .NET Framework version: 2.0.50727.832 x86 Processor: 1x "AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+" @ ~2088MHz (SSE) Physical memory: 1535 MB UI DPI: 96.00 dpi (1.00x scale) Tablet PC: no Updates: true, 7/23/2008 Locale: pdnr.c: en-US, hklm: en-US, hkcu: n/a, cc: en-US, cuic: en-US Features log: UpdatesState(StartupState), SetTool(PaintDotNet.Tools.PaintBrushTool), HM(NullHistoryMemento), ShowDialog(PaintDotNet.ToolsForm), ShowDialog(PaintDotNet.ColorsForm), ShowDialog(PaintDotNet.HistoryForm), ShowDialog(PaintDotNet.LayerForm), ShowDialog(PaintDotNet.MainForm), UpdatesState(ReadyToCheckState), PopulateFonts(), Menu.File, New, AWAction(NewImageAction), ShowDialog(PaintDotNet.NewFileDialog), CommonActionsStrip(Open), AWAction(OpenFileAction), Load(PaintDotNet.PngFileType), Copy, CopyToClipboardAction, SetTool(PaintDotNet.Tools.PencilTool), SetTool(PaintDotNet.Tools.ColorPickerTool), Menu.Window, SetTool(PaintDotNet.Tools.PaintBucketTool), HM(BitmapHistoryMemento), SetTool(PaintDotNet.Tools.TextTool), HF(AddNewBlankLayerFunction), HM(NewLayerHistoryMemento), HM(CompoundHistoryMemento), Undo, DWAction(HistoryUndoAction) Loaded assemblies: mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 @ C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorlib.dll PaintDotNet, Version=3.35.3106.20184, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.exe System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 @ C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Windows.Forms\2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\System.Windows.Forms.dll System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 @ C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System\2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\System.dll System.Drawing, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a @ C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Drawing\2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a\System.Drawing.dll PaintDotNet.Core, Version=3.35.3106.20179, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.Core.dll PaintDotNet.Base, Version=3.35.3106.20178, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.Base.dll PaintDotNet.SystemLayer, Version=3.35.3106.20178, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.SystemLayer.dll PaintDotNet.Resources, Version=3.35.3106.20179, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.Resources.dll PaintDotNet.Data, Version=3.35.3106.20180, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.Data.dll PaintDotNet.Effects, Version=3.35.3106.20181, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.Effects.dll Interop.WIA, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Interop.WIA.dll DdsFileType, Version=1.11.3106.20184, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null @ C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\FileTypes\DdsFileType.dll Exception details: System.OutOfMemoryException: Out of memory. at System.Drawing.Graphics.CheckErrorStatus(Int32 status) at System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawString(String s, Font font, Brush brush, RectangleF layoutRectangle, StringFormat format) at PaintDotNet.ToolConfigStrip.FontFamilyComboBox_DrawItem(Object sender, DrawItemEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.OnDrawItem(DrawItemEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.WmReflectDrawItem(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. Thanks! I tried the method in post one, and it wasn't giving me nearly the effect I was looking for. Never knew about that tool before though, so nice to have it! Thanks for letting me know about the API stuff too, I appreciate the help!
  4. Is there a method for Deforming an object or selection? Like, I know you can stretch and such, but is there anyway to skew or pull out a single point? It's been a while since I used photoshop (since back when I had a student version), but I think I did something like this there. A simple example of what I mean is if I had a circle, and I wanted to pull out the top right corner so now it's more of a pointer with a rounded bottom left. And if this isn't in, is there a way for me to make this into a plugin? From what I've noticed on the effects plugins, they never seem to use any GUI elements, only dialogue boxes (although I admit I haven't looked at the API yet, I'm a C++ guy so C# is a bit daunting). Thanks for any info!
  5. Sorry Rick, I read the guidelines on the tutorial section and it sounded like my post was right for there... I'll be more careful next time! I did end up doing it in a different project and pasting it in, and it worked alright for the most part. The lightning still looks pretty... blah... but that might just be my limitations as an artist.. since.. well.. I'm not one. Thanks though!
  6. Hi, I was wondering how I could make some nice looking lightning effects with Paint .NET? I understand that using a program like Photoshop you can get some nice effects using layer blending and the like, but considering we can't merge layers in Paint .NET, I was hoping to find a method that can be contained to a single layer. Any ideas? Thanks!
  7. The Radial Gradient is working beautifully now, thanks for fixing it so quickly! Much appreciated!
  8. I'm trying to make a TGA to use as a texture for my game, however the transparency does not seem to be saved properly, and is instead replaced with white. Photoshop did this also, and released a patch here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ ... ftpID=1544 I was wondering if anyone could perhaps tell me if there's some way to do this in Paint .NET, perhaps even by writing a new TGA file extension plug in?
  9. That's odd, I think I'm doing something wrong then because I get no effect at all. Like, the entire circle does a fill with my primary color and the secondary is nowhere. Oh well, still nice to have the other gradients!
  10. Is anyone else having trouble doing Radial gradients? All the other gradients seem to work fine for me, but for some reason Radial just doesn't want to.
