  1. This post is about the latest (4.0) version of Paint .NET. I see that there's a "Preview" subforum so if this post should be moved there, even though 4.0 has released, feel free to do so.

     

    I noticed that in the new Rotate Layer dialog, clicking in the top-most textbox, entering a number (e.g. "1"), and pressing tab (to make the layer rotate) ends up putting the keyboard focus on the reset button. This is different from the old dialog (See the "Layer Rotate" page in the Paint .NET documentation for a screenshot; I can't seem to paste a link here) where pressing tab would put the keyboard focus on a textbox.

     

    This change became a problem when I pressed enter out of habit to make the rotation. I expected the layer to rotate as if I had clicked the OK button. Instead, the rotate value was reset and my work was lost.

     

    I can't think of a quick fix off the top of my head but I hope this problem description helps other people experiencing the same issue.

     

    In case it is relevant, my computer's operating system is Windows 7 x64 EN-US running with a 101% DPI setting.

  2. Problem:

    The mouse is stuck in Rectangle Select mode.

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Go into Rectangle Select mode

    2. Zoom in as far as possible

    3. Scroll to the right edge of the image.

    4. Click somewhere on the image and hold down the left mouse button

    5. Move the mouse over the scrollbar and release the mouse button

    How to Rescue Yourself:

    Click on any tool besides Rectangle Select

  3. How did you get your output to come out nicely? Mine always get chopped up at the end of the lines.

    Good guess, Rick. I'm using 120 dpi. I tried switching back to 96 dpi (Normal size) and things get too microscopic for me. :(

    And BoltBait, don't be that cruel to the inventor of Large Fonts mode. It really makes things much easier to see. :)

  5. On my laptop with a widescreen (1680x1050) with Paint .NET maximized, the text in the update dialog is truncated in the following way:

    A newer version of Paint .NET is available. You may click the Install button to download it and install it, or you may click Close to be reminded in several

    I am running Paint .NET 2.72.

    By the way, I got the dialog after enabling beta builds but it would probably look like this no matter what type of update it was. :)

  6. I have a similar problem. If this turns out to be a different problem, I would appreciate it if an admin would make this a new thread.

    After scanning in an image (400 dpi, 2.66"x5.35") and saving it as a PNG, when I load the PNG in Paint .NET the image size and DPI are wrecked and after I use the resize tool in Paint .NET, if I copy-and-paste to Microsoft Word (or probably any other program), the image is ~8.5"x11".

    My System Uses...

    WinXP Pro SP2

    2GB RAM

    P4 with HT

    Scanner with a TWAIN driver (doesn't support WIA)

    My System Has...

    Paint .NET

    .NET Framework 1.1

    .NET Framework 2.0

    Corel PhotoHouse 3

    Steps to Reproduce:

    Get the Image:

    1. Scan in an image (I use Corel PhotoHouse for this.) at full color, 400 dpi

    2. Save as PNG with interlacing

    3. Exit Corel PhotoHouse

    Paint .NET:

    1. Open the image in Paint .NET

    2. Go to Image | Resize

    1st Bug: The resolution is 96dpi and the image size is 11.08"x22.29"

    3. Change the resolution to 400 dpi.

    The image size shrinks to 2.66"x5.35".

    4. Click OK.

    Copy to Microsoft Word

    1. CTRL+A in Paint .NET

    2. CTRL+C in Paint .NET

    3. Run Microsoft Word

    4. Paste into Microsoft Word.
