  1. Doh, sorry about that. What makes me feel worse is that I work for a software company and I am constantly telling our clients to first search our forums before posting. All I had to type was "multiple instance" in the forum's search box, and found several topics. What a waste of binary bits.
  2. Is there an option to allow more that one instance of Paint.NET to run? In the older versions before the tabbed view every image was opened in its own instance. I would like to be able to go thru the Paint.NET file open menu and have every image from there open in a tabbed view, but if I wanted to open an image file by double-clicking on the file inside a folder, it should open it in a new instance of Paint.NET(provided of course that Paint.NET is the designated editor for that particular image file). Is such a thing possible or could be a new feature in the next release?
  3. Thanks, Yeah, I will give circle gradient a try. I have a feeling this will go thru a lot of variations, but I just wanted to get something out there. Oh, as for the direct link about the name. I initially tried to get it from wikipedia, but the wiki link kept diverting me. Weird.
  4. I recently registered an open source project called NalaCAD on sourceforge. I have been working on some code with regards to it for some time and had an idea for a mascot that I had been putting of creating. Well after drawing the outline with InkScape and coloring it with Paint.NET, meet Nala. Critiques, suggestions, whatever. Thanks for a great tool. I love the gradients, as you can tell. http://nalacad.blogspot.com/
  5. Well basically any document to which some changes have been made, and those changes have not yet been commited by a save should be flagged somehow. Granted an if condition here or there for certain cases, but the general idea is still the same.
  6. Thank you for creating a great open source application that is a joy to use. I am using version 3-beta 3. Sometimes i'll have more than one document open at the same time (a feature that I just love, thank again). If I make a change in one document and have not saved yet, then can the borders surrounding the document in the tabbed view be made reflect that state? Basically if the change is in the current document then its border should be bright red. If the changed document is not the current one then when the mouse hovers over the preview the border should be a light pink or something. Just a suggestion.
  7. I don't see what you're asking ... if it's on the clipboard, then Paste will grab it. Maybe I need to go back and look at the older Paint.NET versions, but I thought there used to be an "acquire from selection" and "acquire from clipboard". Thank you for your help.
  8. There is some discrepancy here... Acquire from selection--> Edit->Paste in to New Image Steps: Draw some scribbles, whatever in Paint.NET Do a rectangle select Hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard Perform Edit->Paste in to New Image How can we distinguish between a rectangle select and acquire from clipboard?
  9. I realize that this is still a beta version but I wish to to mention a few things... -> The Selection Tools Hitting the escape key no longer gets rid of the selection. -> The Unsaved Changes dialog Whoops sorry, made a mistake here. so it's not S and D. I guess it's the S and N key. Can the dialog at least somehow indicate these keys. What's with this Save, Don't Save? What happened to the simple Yes, No, Cancel. I have been able to work very effeciently with Paint.NET by using in some case just the keyboard. The Y and N keys for Yes, No were at least more seperated but the S and D keys for Save, Don't Save are too close together resulting in more accidental hitting the D when I meant to hit S. -> Under the File Menu, for Acquire What happened to Acquire from selection, has it been moved? I can't find it anymore. Other than that, love the program. Just please don't lose sight of the fact that the keyboard is also a very important tool to a designer/artist along with the mouse.
  10. Please, please allow this keyboard short-cut to perform the acquire from clipboard command. At the moment all it does is paste. I can't tell you how useful it would be to simply perform a selection and copy in one drawing, do a Ctrl+Shift+W to start a new session and then a Ctrl+Shift+V to get the selected drawing. It would be a real time saver. Thanks.
  11. First of all I really love using this program, and thank you for making it open source. I come from an AutoCAD background so maybe my suggestions are biased towards working in that environment, but here goes... All the special effect commands should have a keyboard shortcut, or anything that can effect the drawing visually speaking should have a keyboard shortcut. When the program is started the first tool that has been selected is the brush command, ideally it should be the rectangular select. The reason for this is that most users have a tendency to click first and ask questions later. And most users have a tendency to hit the escape key to cancel a command. When the brush is clicked the user has to perform a ctrl+Z to undo any marks they have made, whereas if they performed a selection all they would have to is hit Escape. Well these are my suggestions, they were freely given so please fell free to ignore them. Have a nice day.
