  1. Yes its Quark Xpress - one of the worlds most important and widespread DTP packages. Windows does show the correct dpi info for .jpgs- BUT i get the feeling that this is just the meta information the actual image is still 96dpi. save an image as a tif,png etc the image is ALWAYS 96dpi
  2. The image's resolution is aways set to 96dpi when saving an image, not to the value given in the image resize dialog. Recreate/Test:- open picture change the resolution save (as..) the picture import picture into quark - note in the image browser the image res is set to 96dpi open file in good old paint - ctrl+E image attributes again note the res is set to 96dpi
