I used WinMerge.
I opened both 2.5 and 2.6 english .resx and looking at what had changed, updated the .fi.resx manually.
-
Zagna, the formatting on that help file doesn't work ... (as in, it's totally broken!)
I must've yet again forgotten to clean up what Dreamweaver likes to put in the ../ links. Moment...
Fixed Paint.NET fi

What is the definition of slow?
On my rig with Athlon XP 2500+ and 512MB of RAM a "cold" startup takes about 13-15 seconds and a "warm" takes 3-4 seconds. To me those numbers are quite acceptable.
I also have AntiVir V7 and it shouldn't in any way be the problem.
-
I used the .resx in the 2.6 source and then with diff, filled the .fi.resx
Verified it works in 2.6 okay
The Help is also v2.6

I tried this.
I found a .jpg of the announcement of the wake for Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, which according to Irfanview has a DPI of 72.
When I open it in PDN, Resize dialog displays 96 DPI. If I save it as is, and then open it in Irfanview, it reads 96 DPI.
If I resize it to a different, this time 11 DPCM, Irfanview still reads it at 96 DPI. But the EXIF info on that file, reads XResolution & YResolution both at 11 and ResolutionUnit is Centimeter. PDN also sees that it's 11 DPCM if I have changed it to something other than 96 DPI.
I can put them up if necessary.

I've changed quite a bit in the UI and tried to make the help more fluent.
Also, the few changes in UI -> new pics, too lazy to downgrade back to 2.5 -> all pics now 2.6
Also, this bug is still there, 2 letters get cut off.

Works fine

After upgrading from 2.6a2 to b1, got this,

Even tried clean install of beta1 but no luck. Going back to 2.6a2 still works. Yay, first bug report

Updated couple strings in UI and fully 'translated' Help, checked lots of typos. If only I could get a pic of a .fi Photo Wizard....
Anyway, here is Help at 99% done
-
All right... attempt #2. After getting the last page I meant to translate done... I just rushed it.. Sorry about that Rick... apparently Dreamweaver had the urge to replace the stylesheet and logo ../stuff style urls to point at G: where I keep the files. So... open in Notepad++ and quick replace all This should actually work. And since stylesheet can be found again, formatting, fonts should be okay now.
Updated UI to change some stuff & first "beta" grade release of finnish help.Still missing few images and 2 pages, but I need to some kind of release out to get comments, so here it is. It's bound to have lots of typos and whatnot, but I'll try to get all that sorted out in the next few weeks.
Also, as a small quirk... it's all valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional Smile

My first attempt with help foiled by Dreamweaver!
Darn it.

.NET Framework Version 1.1 Spanish Language Pack
Perhaps this is required?
I just installed the Finnish pack and atleast the languages in File are now finnish
Edit: Quick check and it seems dialog for overwriting a file is finnish too, so Language Pack most likely fixes this

You don't even need to save it as PNG. Just flattening it loses opacity.

Mulla on suomenkielinen XP Pro.

Help is going slowly.... 15% done so far
Should have it done this week.
Having Dreamweaver helps a bit.

Fixed couple small typos.
Just waiting for Logunn to give his opinions (and discuss further) in the other thread.
And I'll give the Help a go.
-
From this point onwards, finnish.

Would I get lynched if I criticized the finnish translation? The translations are correctly spelled and they are basicly correct but not very fluent.
Critizism is mandatory and no lynching
For example, "Motion Blur" was translated "Liike-epäterävyys", which roughly translates back to "Motion un-sharpness". I recommend "Liikesumeus" instead. There are a lot more of similar cases, as well as some combound words (yhdyssanat) are written separately.I used GIMP translation as a reference quite a bit and in the gimp fi.po they refer to a Photoshop dictionary, got that translation from there.
I really do not wish to offend anyone with my opinions on this case. I usually prefer keeping my software english as there are so many failed translations. PDN_FI is not failure as I see it, but I think it needs a bit more thought, not strict word-to-word translation. My point is that there is already a set vocabulary for graphics jargon, and this particular translation is a bit annoying, if not misleading.
There is always room for improvement
I could offer my help (if I may suggest improvements..) - I'll be back later to check replies and YOUR opinions.Help is appreciated.
Saa pistää tulemaan postia.
(I said is ok to email)

I would like to request this feature also.
The tolerance bar is much too coarse for me currently.

You should check the still somewhat incomplete help but it already has what you want.
Check the Help folder in your Paint.NET 2.5 installation for UnattendedInstallation.html, has everything you need for a silent install.

I'm not 100% sure, but when I updated just a moment ago with the updater, when it downloaded, the string was in finnish. Took a while. But for the brief moment it extracted it... I could've sworn the string wasn't translated.
So I check the .resx file because I thought I had all translated. Bingo, all the UpdateDialog strings are done, including the Extracting... one.
So.... I uninstall Paint.NET 2.5RC2 and google for RC1 and install it. Time to give another update a go. Bingo.

There is an easier way than what Litchi said.... there is absolutely no need to duplicate the layer....
Simply,
1. Select the bit you want in color with one of the select tools
2. Edit -> Invert Selection
3. Layers -> Adjustments -> Black & White
And after that, File -> Save As... and give it a new name so that you wont overwrite the original, or just use Save to overwrite.
