  1. Nope. You're confusing what's possible or appropriate to store in an image, with what should be handled by your game's content management system. Images do not "contain links."
  2. Oh, well that makes sense since I nuked the old forum :nuke: I'll upload it again tonight.
  3. The old forum doesn't exist anymore. You'll simply have to go and manually replace all your links.
  4. Your new account just got lost in the shuffle. No bug. New emoticons ... :crown: :robot: :apple: :present: :cards: :thumbs-up: :diamond: :thumbs-down: :guy:  :heart-break: :computer: :drive-download: :cone: :cutlery: :disk: :folder: :doc: :snowman: :gal: :yinyang: :nuke: :rss: We'll get the icons from Paint.NET v3.5 added as well.
  5. Ok, here we go. Now that we're settled in a bit more ... *unlocks thread* No, they really weren't! The reasons for moving the forum were many: I wanted the forum to be on an actual Paint.NET domain instead of forumer.com. Without this, Paint.NET still had a bit of "freebie unprofessionalism" syndrome. Back in the day I was even using paint.net@hotmail.com as the official Paint.NET e-mail address. Not exactly professional, and it came in stark contrast to the Paint.NET application itself. We wanted to do all sorts of customizations to the forum that we were unable to do without full administrator access. For instance, I just updated all the icons used on the forum to a newer, fresh set from http://pinvoke.com. And now we can upload any new skins that we want, automation scripts, etc. Or what about syntax highlighting for code snippets? etc. etc. There we several phpBB mods we wanted to install but we would always have to ask the forumer guys to install stuff, at which point they'd either say no or just ignore us. Once we identified IPB as the forum software we were going to move to, we noticed it had a bunch of apps that we can plug into it. For instance, it has a gallery, blog, content pages, and download manager system. Expect to see some sweet revamps to the Pictorium and Plugins areas, and hopefully Tutorials as well. We wanted analytics data on the forum. Basically the type of stuff you get out of any normal webpage stats package. We were unable to get any real service out of the forumer.com. For instance, we'd been trying to update the emoticons for months, which requires FTP access to the server (which we definitely didn't have). Limez, the owner, completely ignored us. Wild Cat, one of their administrators, basically told us to F-off and to stop abusing our special privileges (?!) even though pyrochild had been extremely cordial and polite in asking for assistance. We need to be able to place our own ads on the forum so that we can start getting something back for all our time that we spend on here. Note: We are still planning what exactly we're going to do here. Please don't bug us about it. Ultimately, from a business standpoint, I was unwilling to continue having a dependency on a freebie forum hosting company. Technically, if they wanted to, they could have banned us and took over the forum. Or they could have decided we didn't fit into their business model and removed the forum completely, or they could have gone out of business, etc. etc. We really had no rights, per their TOS (Terms of Service). This is something we've been wanting to do for a very long time, but inertia and procrastination always stopped us. Finally we got fed up and pyrochild figured out all the technical stuff and then just did it. Major huge props should be thrown his way. Buy him a coffee. As a pre-emptive note, I will not let this thread turn into a forumer bashing party. It's simply not necessary, and we're better than that. Don't do it.
  6. Do you have a version of the 'before' image with alpha channel?
  7. All the built-in codecs try to preserve EXIF data. If the underyling codec implementation (e.g. GDI+) discards that then there's not much that can be done. JPEG usually works the best for preserving EXIF in Paint.NET.
  8. Whoa. I just deleted all the user accounts that had 0 posts. There were over 16,000 of them
  9. Ads will be coming back, although hopefully more tastefully. We have to at least pay for the hosting, after all. Back in my day we used smoke signals and we liked it! What you're asking for is called alternation. Good idea. I'll look into it at some point.
  10. I've set the max # of images to 100. Can't remember if that was the default value or something I set it to. Let me know if you need more, of course. Ultimately a per-post limit isn't very useful anyway.
  11. A majority of the credit actually goes to pyrochild who figured it out and then just did it (which is always a weakness of mine!). I think he's hiding under a bed somewhere catching up on sleep. Oh yeah, enjoy the : speed : emoticon while it lasts, that was just for fun to test it out
  12. We have our reasons and when we're ready we'll share them. Until then, please don't fill this new forum with posts like this. Mostly right now we are just busy with settling this new forum, and not on crafting a few paragraphs for this. (For now, I'm locking this thread)
  13. You can switch to the other languages in the app to see what the conventions are for various languages or language types (Latin vs. East Asian).
  14. Click on "Edit my Profile" -- it's all the way on the right side of the screen. Took me a minute to find it too.
  15. Regarding PM limit: Try it now. Instead of searching for a 'limit to 50' option, I decided to try this:
  16. Ok I'm not finding a setting for either 50 PMs, or the images. One thing that'll help speed this up is if you can search through the IPB documentation and help find the settings for these things. Should be here, http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/official.html?category=36 ... If you can find the setting, we can tweak it.
  17. Ok, this is where the Paint.NET forums are now: http://forums.getpaint.net/ Welcome! Be sure to edit your account's birthday, as everyone got imported as being 40 years old (January 1st, 1970). You will need to edit your signatures if they contain links to pages on the old forum. The old forums are kaput. Totally nuked :nuke:.
  18. That's because you haven't sought out the reason why.
