  1. This update fixes one small bug, improves layer blending and Gaussian Blur performance, and is now updated to work with the new .NET Framework v4.0. This is the "official" Beta release. The other versions that were posted here on the forum, in the Preview Center, were targeted at a smaller audience. This one is meant for everyone! You must install this manually from the website, http://www.getpaint.net/. There is no need to uninstall the old version -- that will be taken care of automatically. There are three ways to get it: Manual: Download directly from the website, http://www.getpaint.net/ . There is no need to uninstall the old version -- that will be taken care of automatically. Semi-automatic: Use the built-in updater, by going to the Utilities menu and clicking on Check for Updates. You must opt-in to Beta downloads. You can do this by going to the Utilities menu, then Check for Updates, then click on the Options button, and then make sure that "Also check for pre-release (beta) versions". Then click Save, of course. Fully automatic: Use the built-in updater; just wait for the update prompt to show up within the next week. You must have opted-in to Beta downloads. (See the previous bullet for how to enable this.) NOTE: I have removed this from the built-in updater for now. Please note that XP SP2 and Vista pre-SP1 ("RTM") are no longer supported. Here are download links to install the service packs if you need them: Windows XP SP3 -- http://www.microsoft...08-1E1555D4F3D4 Windows Vista SP2 -- http://www.microsoft...12-a5c3199ea2b3 Just to clarify, XP is still supported! However, you must have Service Pack 3 ("SP3") installed. For Vista, you must have SP1 or SP2 installed. Also, if you don't have .NET 4.0 installed then don't worry. It will be automatically downloaded and installed for you! Changes: Fixed the bug where saving as 8-bit PNG/GIF/BMP wasn't always working, usually with larger images. Improved the performance of the Gaussian Blur effect by 30-40%. Improved the performance of all the layer blending modes by 15-30%. Improved the performance of zooming with the mouse wheel on dual-core Intel Atom systems. Updated to use (and require) the .NET Framework v4.0. This will be automatically downloaded and installed if necessary. Fixed a small error in the Chinese translation.
  2. I'm going to do that right after the Wii version. It's going to be awesome!
  3. Zagna, 3rd-party translations aren't really being targeted with this. To be honest, they never really have been As for property HTML+CSS, etc. that's what we've got Matan for! He's way better at this than I will have the patience to be.
  4. Sarkut, I believe that's an issue with the forum configuration. Not the help site itself FWIW, I voted for "it's ugly"
  5. ballplayer33, please make sure you use the provided search functionality of the forums, as well as http://searchpaint.net
  6. I've modified the thread title so it doesn't mention "source code". There's no problem with the content of this thread, I just want to avoid the possibility of future confusion.
  7. I've edited the subject of this post so it doesn't mention "source code". There's no problem with the content of this thread, I just wanted to make sure there isn't confusion later.
  8. I'm locking this thread. dldummy, don't ever go shooting your mouth off that things are "easy to implement." You have no idea what you're talking about. There is more to real software than just clicking and adding a new item in the Forms Designer in Visual Studio. "Difficulty" often has little relevance with whether a feature is added or not.
  9. Definitely not going to do that ... classical modems are dead. I'd end up writing a bunch of code and UI and getting translations for something that nobody will ever use or care about. The math is easy, sure, but there's more too it than that. Just divide the KB by 5 and that'll give you the rough # of seconds to download with a 56K modem. Also, this is not something that a plugin can do.
  10. Please, change the subject to be something that isn't equivalent to "Question". The low self-esteem stuff is awkward as well (stop calling yourself dumb). The rules are here, please read and follow them:
  11. Winstall LE or anything like that is completely unsupported. I have no idea why you would need to use that since Paint.NET supports AD/GPO deployment "natively." /createMsi should work and will create MSIs that don't give an error message about needing to use the installer. It will install the correct version of the VC++ 2008 SP1 redistributable. The one on the MS Download Center is an old version from before a stream of security updates that went out last year.
  12. So don't We should install IP.Downloads anyway.
  13. Go look up NGEN on MSDN. You'll find all the documentation you could possibly need.
  14. This is something I'm planning to address in 4.0. The biggest problem in 3.x is that, even if you are diligent about saving often, a stray error during the saving process can nuke the file and wipe out what you've been working on anyway. At the minimum, a simple and conventional approach of first saving your "A.pdn" to "A.saving.pdn" (or whatever) and then swapping the filenames after success is needed (and not difficult to implement, honestly). Past that, hooking into the Win7/Vista "restart manager" is also something I'm looking at, but it's lower priority.
  15. You should ask HP. Clearly Paint.NET's printing system is working, and clearly the printer is working. The only thing left is the WIA driver.
  16. :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up:
  17. Yes. Please pardon the dust, so to speak. Nope. No mistake. Just please be patient.
  18. The color bands do not work on a dark background. What you're seeing is simply the version of the paint.net logo for dark colored backgrounds. There is no sense reading into this more than that.
  19. It has a little star next to it. Pretty easy to see. All the stars line up into their own column.
  20. Nope. You're confusing what's possible or appropriate to store in an image, with what should be handled by your game's content management system. Images do not "contain links."
  21. Oh, well that makes sense since I nuked the old forum :nuke: I'll upload it again tonight.
