    a) With a setting of 1, I can see the pointer, so I need it smaller. b) With a setting of 1, I can see the pointer, and I do not lose sight of where it is on the screen, and I don't need to ever waggle it around to find it. c) I like big mouse pointers and I can not lie... d) A few other reasons: I've been enjoying customizing my mouse pointers in programs and games since Windows 3.1. My current cursor is from a defunct operating system I used in the late 90's called "BeOS." Making my pointer larger for computer presentations is useful for clients (who may have vision issues) to see what I'm pointing at. A coworker thinks my big pointer is hilarious and his laughter is endlessly entertaining. Yes indeed, I do know how to change the mouse pointer size in Windows, and this solves the "issue" without affecting paint.net. I do realize that I'm basically acting like an unreasonable and grumpy old woman, stamping her virtual feet and shaking her virtual cane about how the paint.net pointer used to be and should be again, and I do know my request is completely unreasonable and should be withdrawn. I'll write a script to change my pointer size to be smaller in Windows before paint.net launches. Problem solved. Sorry for wasting your time.

    Well, yes, I'd like the cursor to be size 1 like it used to be so the size and design of the stamp tool (for example) doesn't obscure the utilization... Typing this out now makes me feel like I'm asking too much, so please just cancel this request.

    My cursor in Windows (and the pic above) is set to 4, which is where it's been since I've been using paint.net. When I set my cursor in windows to 1, the cursor in paint.net looks and functions the way it used to. Also, I do realize that I'm having the opposite problem to many others, who may lose their tiny cursors in the vastness of their huge screens 😛

    Thanks for the answers Rick, much appreciated. The pic I included was zoomed in 157%. If I zoom in far enough to compensate for the huge cross, I can no longer see what I'm trying to edit. Also, changing the cursor to size 1 in windows does put the cursor back to what it used to be, so that is a workaround. I just have to switch back and forth currently when I want to edit stuff.     Hi Pixey, thanks for answering, and thanks for the link. I did see that link before I posted. Allow me to clarify. Paint.net used to have a fixed size cursor, regardless of the cursor size in Windows. I use a large cursor in Windows. Apparently, in a recent update, the cursor size in paint.net was changed, and now it automatically adjusts itself to the Windows cursor size. So, when a user like me uses a large cursor in Windows, the cursor and tool sizes in paint.net are comically large, and that makes the tools in some cases (like the clone tool in my example) very difficult to use. I guess a better question is: Are there cursor size settings in paint.net to allow for different cursor sizes?

    Hello! I haven't used paint.net in a while, and I just updated it to the newest version. The cursor size in the program now matches the cursor size in Windows (when before it seemed to be set to 1) and now the tool cursors are so large at windows cursor size 4 for example, that they get in the way. For example: the clone stamp tool: I can't see my destination area at all because there's a gigantic cross covering the destination circle area. Before the update the destination cross was a lot smaller and I could easily see the destination area in the circle before I clicked. My question is: Is there a way to set the cursor size in paint.net? Is there a plugin I can use that sets cursor size? I've searched and forums and the net and I haven't found a solution in the program so any help is appreciated. The only workaround I've found is to change the cursor size in windows every time I want to use paint.net.
