Is there a plugin to save the canvas content into Inkscape file format ?

Is there a way to save the contents of the canvas in SVG format ?

I have installed the plugin as described above. But the Scalable Vector Graphics ( SVG, SVGZ ) file types are not showing up in the file type drop down menu of the ''Save As'' dialogue box. Please let me know how to resolve the situation.
