  1. I did try that hoping it would work, but it seems to cross transparency in order to find what it considers to be similar pixels. It might work with an image with greater distinction between colors, though? But thanks!

I used the first link getting all ready to be internally smug about how relatively bad of a job it does, but giving it the image I just finished working on manually, it did a shockingly good job. Thanks for these! Since the wand deleting will pretty much always leave what I want as the biggest object, his should do exactly what I want, yes! Thank you!

I'm not sure what the specific term would be for what I'm trying to do, but is there a way either vanilla or plugin to use something like the magic wand, except it considers transparency to be impenetrable? It would make the frequent task of cutting a figure out of a photo much simpler once you have the borders figured out and have deleted everything touching what you want to keep, but still have all the scattered garbage floating around the figure.
