  1. @Retired HVAC Do all of your white painting on a new transparent layer above the document image layer. That way if you paint over something that you want left untouched you can simply erase the offending bit rather than using Undo. If you set the Paintbrush tool blending mode to Overwrite, and the Secondary color to zero Opacity, the Paintbrush tool will function as an eraser by using the right mouse button.
  2. Copy a layer or the image to the clipboard, Open Dynamic Draw, right-click the canvas and choose to have clipboard as background.
  3. Start over and run the plugin with a line width of 3. Magic Wand the transparent region at the top. Make a new layer and Paint Bucket fill the selection. Deselect. Make a new layer, Magic Wand the new layer, and run the Outline Selection plugin at default. (Leave Preserve canvas edges unchecked.) Merge layer down. Magic Wand inside one of the transparent puzzle-piece shaped areas, make the image layer active, copy and paste into a new layer. You now have one puzzle piece on its own separate layer. Copy/paste into a new file. Repeat for the rest of the puzzle pieces.
  4. Is it possible that the 2.54 x 3.54 inch image has a higher DPI than the standard paint.net images have? What is the size of the 2.54 x 3.54 inch image in pixels?
  5. If I understand your situation correctly, you can make a selection around the date and press Delete (not Backspace) on each layer. Then add the new date.
  6. Don't know whether this will be helpful. Make a New Layer, then copy image. Ctrl Shift C Open Dynamic Draw, right-click the canvas and choose to have clipboard as background. Apply the brush, then OK. Duplicate and merge the brush layer several times until all partially transparent pixels become fully opaque.
  7. ButtonButton AOE font https://www.dafont.com/buttonbutton-aoe.font Lower case z produces a 5 point star shape.
  8. This was changing the color of the desired texture rather than applying the texture to the original colored texture. Make a selection of a sample of the original texture. Apply the AverageSelectionColor plugin effect. Repeat with a sample of the other new texture. With the Color Wheel expanded, use the Color Picker tool and note the RGB numbers of both average colors. Place a New Layer above the desired texture. Fill it with RGB 7, 2, 12. Set the Blend mode to Additive. Merge.
  9. Create a file with canvas size equal to the paper size used by your printer. Paste your smaller image onto the canvas and print.
  10. On a New Layer, position your numbers near the bottom of a square canvas. Using the Move Selected Pixels tool, selection stretch them to be taller, then apply Polar Transformation. You'll then need to position each number individually using the Move Selected Pixels tool.
  11. After making a selection using the Ellipse Select tool, the Move Selection tool can be used on the selection nubs to adjust the selection size / shape. Holding down the right mouse button will let you rotate the selection. https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/MoveTools.html
  12. Info on how to install plugins: https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/InstallPlugins.html ======================================== One way to correct the curvature: Add a New Layer. Adjust an Elliptical selection so that the bottom of the selection matches the curvature of the water. fill the selection, deselect, fill the top part. Expand the canvas to double the height with top anchored. Apply Boltbait's Flip Vertical plugin, merge layers. Apply Madjik's Gravity plugin. Crop to selection.
  13. Please post a link to a full screenshot of your open Effects folder.
  14. If the line is on its own layer it can be easily trimmed with the Eraser tool or Selection / Delete.
  15. Set the Primary color to zero Opacity and use the Backspace key.
  16. Write your text in a document file and copy/paste into a new layer in paint.net. Save the text file. Editing can later be done to the text file, then copy/paste into a new layer once more. Discard the original text layer.
  17. A step closer to what you want would be to position one layer using the Paneling plugin. Each other layer could be repositioned with Ctrl F.
  18. After you make the initial selection, you need to switch to the Move Selection tool to make adjustments to that selection.
  19. Perhaps you could use the icons as brushes via this plugin. (Just use a single click.)
