  1. Depending on your starting image you might get a better result using a different method for removing the background. You can improve the image that you have by applying Gaussian blur at default, duplicating the layer twice, merging layers and running AA's Assistant plugin effect. The remaining jaggy edges on the horizontal rotors can be reduced by making a Rectangular selection around the parts of the rotor you want to smooth and using Motion blur.
  2. To clear the background use Kill Color Keeper plugin set to keep black. Adjust the tolerance to what looks best. This plugin can help with the distortion.
  3. If you want to save only the selection for reuse then: Edit > Copy Selection will save a selection. Edit > Paste Selection will bring it back. If you want to save for future sessions, fill the selection on a new layer. You can then regain the selection with the Magic Wand.
  4. Lately I've noticed that there will be links on the Home page indicating a new post. Click on the link and the new post isn't there. It might take considerable time before the indicated post is actually available.
  5. That's a direct copy/paste from the Documentation. Maybe the Documentation needs correction.
  6. "Note In the Windows Store version of paint.net, the directories for plugins and Shapes are different. These locations need to be created manually. First navigate to your Documents folder (this may be translated to your system language). In it, create a new folder called paint.net App Files Then create three subfolders in the new folder. These should be called: Effects, FileTypes and Shapes. The correct spelling and capitalization of these folder names is essential. There are six capital letters in the names of the four new folders."
  7. Yes. Thanks to Boltbait for providing it. The UI experience is quite different from what I've suggested here. It has many options to choose from. More is not always better.
  8. This would be modeled after @illnab1024's Alpha Mask Import plugin, but leaner and more targeted. Mask loaded from clipboard only. In the mask layer alpha and white would be treated the same. By default the dark parts of the mask would reduce opacity in the work layer. White and alpha in the mask would leave opacity unaffected in the work layer. No filling/replacing alpha in the work layer. Ideally would appear directly in the Effects menu, not in a sub-menu. If anyone is willing to take on the project it will be greatly appreciated.🙂
  9. This page tells you about palettes. https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/WorkingWithPalettes.html

    Mancs page.

@welshblue is a talented artist, and posted helpful well organized tutorials. His departure from the forum is a great loss in more ways than one. Your "Welsh Goblets" look really good. I think that the image could be improved if the shadows cast by the goblets were structured more like this. (Left unblurred to emphasize the shape.)
  11. Copy/paste from Chrome also gives a degraded image. 4.2.15 Default theme.
  12. @Ladybug I think that the .xml file goes in Documents\paint.net User Files. @ANONYMISS If you archive the .xml in a zip file, the forum should accept it.
  13. @Tyippy I suggest using the Line / Curve tool instead.
  14. That doesn't sound like Paint.net. Maybe you mean the Zoom icon in the Tools window? The Zoom icon in the Tools window can't be made larger. You can zoom in and out using the mouse wheel with the Ctrl key held down. Also, on the right side of the bottom toolbar there is a zoom slider.
  15. This will work. Set the primary color to alpha. Set the Line / Curve tool Blending mode to Overwrite. Have a layer below your work layer filled with a contrasting color.
