I'm also having trouble saving png files to my pc's hard drive. The error message I get when using paint.4.2.14 is "Access denied. Use File->save as to save under a different location or name." I discovered the situation today since I hadn't used the application for a while. When I was unable to save the png files a pop-up appeared asking me if I wanted to block the issue and I clicked, block thinking I was removing the obstacle preventing me from saving the file when instead I must have compounded the issue.
