  1. Nice plugin; useful additional to to basic colour invert tool.
  2. OP are you using the most up to date PDN installer sourced from here? Is your OS and MS .NET Framework up to date and the other installation requirements specified here met by your system? Hopefully the qualified tech gurus will be able to identify exactly what the problem is from the crash log but from the research I've just done it suggests this error can be difficult to diagnose. When others have reported the same error message about PDN they've been pointed at the general crash solutions thread:- https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/692-install-update-or-uninstall-trouble-read-this/ Unfortunately there are several threads you can find here which seem to be about the same thing ie. report the same error message and end up with no confirmed resolution. Hate that. Some other forums for the same error message but different programs which crash blame the users anti-virus or incomplete removal of an old installation. A solution that apparently worked for one person was to turn on DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for all programs in advanced computing settings. But do not do anything like that before the experts here have seen the crash log and replied.
  3. There are, of course, plenty of places you can find old versions (Google is your friend). There is good reason to keep older PDN versions available, particularly if you're using WinXP. RB ^ might not like it but if users understand the risks of using old software then that is up to them. If it were me I'd be pleased and proud that they were using any version. It is testimony to PDN's enduring quality over the years that such old versions are still being used productively. I have XP on a VM for compatibility purposes on one PC and a dual boot with it on another. I certainly don't want to be swapping back and forth between OS just to be able to use PDN when I want to use it. So I have the last version which supported XP on those machines. Don't use it that often but when I have it works fine for the sort of purposes I require.
  4. Can't agree with the OP - like welshblue I feel that with the dark grey background of the dark theme it is useful having the canvas edge defined clearly. With the Default and Light themes the default white canvas, without a distinct border around it, would be lost against the white background. I'd agree though that it is less likely if the canvas border was removed in the Dark theme that you'll have the same problem because your canvas or border area is less likely to be the same dark grey. But if having the canvas border defined causes no problem when using the Default or Light theme I do not see why it should cause any particular problem when using the Dark theme either.
  5. Now it it is known the problem is not a malicious one and the screenshot clearly shows there is an accept the risk and continue option why not just use that? Certification issues are becoming a pain with every new browser update throwing up more problems. Firefox is particularly troublesome if it has not been fully updated or, more often, the web site's certification is not up to date. With Firefox any web sites without the correct certification or certification it recognises are usually made inaccessible until the certification is fixed because they removed that 'accept risk.........' option a long time ago. But the screenshot suggests that might have changed. It was for that reason I installed and use a different browser for use in those circumstances which has not, patronizingly, removed the user's choice. I can confirm that the latest version of Waterfox works fine.
  6. It is unusual that PDN would close when trying to use a particular font. What fonts and what type are they? Can those same fonts be used by Windows in Notepad, Wordpad or other programs? Any chance they were trial versions with a time limit, places like MyFonts do that.
  7. Why on earth ask that here? Have people forgotten how to use Google or whatever search engine they prefer? You can find the R.A.A.F roundel in seconds, literately.
  8. A possibly still relevant old thread here I've just found on what appears to be the same issue:- https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/32319-typekit-fonts-listed-but-not-usable/
  9. It is probably what toe_head2001 described but if that does not fix it:- If you have your browser set to delete your history on closing that could be the problem unless you did what TrevorOutlaw just said. Ccleaner and other similar tools will delete all cookies and with it any active logins unless the relevant cookies are specifically saved ie. added to its exclusion list. Neither of the two above make sense if you're having to re-login during the same session so toe_head2001's explanation is the most likely.
  10. The diameter of the cloning patch used and the hardness setting are the important things. With what is essentially a single colour, evenly lit, similarly textured area the clone tool, as demonstrated by , ANONYMISS can do a very good job. If it had been me I'd have spent a bit more time on the sewn edge area but it still looks fine. I'd bet at the full size of the picture no viewer would notice the work that had been done there.
  11. Without the image almost impossible to guess but perhaps you used Metallize (plugin?) or Posterize (default tool?). Attaching an image here is not difficult but keep the file size down to under 1MB, ideally much smaller and it should download OK. Remember you still need to 'insert' it into the post using the + button on the bottom left of the downloaded image thumbnail.
  12. The default Shape Type is actually "Draw Shape Outline" with 2pt line width so should be perfect for the text highlight purposes described.
  13. As I'd explained in the previous paragraph I wrote that because, like Mr.Curious, I could have used such a tool for the purpose described and consequently understood the desire for a PDN or failing that a IRFV batch converter tool which could handle less commonly used formats like DDS. As I thought was clear the previous comments were just about the differences between IRFV, PDN in relation to its DDS options and the superiority of PDN in that respect. Neither does batch conversions of DDS so I'm not sure how there could be any confusion about what I meant. Of course there are a number of batch conversion tools which do handle DDS which are easy enough to find but this is a PDN forum and about what it can do, can not do and what features, like batch conversion, it might be useful for it to support in the future.
  14. ^ If you read what I posted I did not say PDN did batch conversions. I meant PDN will open DDS like IRFV but, unlike IRFV, PDN can save them as DDS and convert to DDS from other image formats as well. In other words PDN is the far more useful tool for handling DDS. No batch conversion facility for either program was mentioned as, indeed, neither currently has that option.
  15. Just read HyReZ's post ^ and can confirm that but there is no DDS conversion tool. IRFV will open them (with a plugin) and save them in other formats but that's it. A bit pointless IMHO when you have PDN which can do that and convert too. I have bought up the matter in relation to batch file conversions with IRFV as well (the thing the OP here wants) and accidentally re-found a thread I'd actually contributed too at its forum about that very matter. I needed a JPG > DDS batch conversion tool for intermediate conversion purposes to be able to use an even more obscure icon image format (XBX) converter tool that only works with DDS originals and does not do batch conversions either. So after I had created them I actually had to re-save as DDS every one of the 200+ PNG icons, created with PDN, that I wanted to convert. That slowed down the whole save process. There is definitely a need for batch conversion to less common formats like DDS.
  16. It certainly would be useful if PDN remembered the last save format. It is a bit of faff scrolling back down to Optimized PNG every time when you've been saving or trialing work in progress in that format. I'd also argue for alphabetical listing of all formats although it would make sense to keep .pdn, .jpg and .png at the top of the list as most users most commonly used image formats.
  17. I've just been reading up about uninstalling Unchecky and it actually warns on one web site that there will be bits left over from Unchecky if you use the basic uninstall option. One of those is said to be that same inject_x64.dll. Assuming total uninstall is definitely confirmed as necessary then the solution is to use a purpose designed uninstaller like Revo or BCUninstaller. Revo is more user friendly; just use the advanced cleanup option after it has run the basic uninstall. But do check carefully what it is removing. 99% of the time it can be relied on but in certain circumstance it may include unrelated files. Same applies to any other 'thorough' uninstaller. Revo puts in a restore point prior to doing anything so there is always that safety net if you/it makes a mistake.
  18. Indeed Unchecky should just make sure that no additional optional software is accidentally installed by simply 'unchecking' any pre-checked opt in boxes. It is or at least, should only be doing anything during install of a particular program. I've never heard of it interfering with a program already installed. My question would be how are you rotating or moving the images which are causing the crashing? Using the PDN toolbar or keyboard? This is a long shot, likely not going to be the solution and only applies if you are using the keyboard: check what graphics or graphics card hotkeys (if any) are in use. I've not had any problem with PDN or any other graphics program for that matter but I have had other software, principally games, which crash because the controls used were the same as the hotkey eg. Ctrl+Alt+Directional key often used to rotate the screen. I'd no idea this could happen and spent days searching and asking for advice before someone suggested the hotkeys were the problem. There could be an easy way to check this: on the desktop right mouse click and choose Graphics Properties > Hot Keys and use Enable/Disable. If the option is not in your desktop context menu you may need to go the graphics card's options settings directly and find the equivalent thing there.
  19. The problem with "LED" fonts, which that looks like a typical example, is there are, as ^ says a huge number which look pretty much the same. You can find one 'identical' but if you look closer instead of square individual LED elements it uses diamond or circular ones. In the example provided they look circular but are the individual LED elements in straight lines actually connected together by a bar or not? Unless it is another reproduction issue the lower case "a" and "g" are quite unusual. Looking at them closely there is a faint hint of a second 'LED' to the left at the bottom of both the "a" and "g". So, again, if that has not been reproduced correctly there may be other elements like that too. All this means that anyone here being able to correctly identify the font from that example is, if not impossible, most unlikely. But, assuming the copy/reproduction issues here are just that,..............................................slap me with a kipper I think I may have found it (literally took 30 seconds):- Bazaronite by Dale Harris https://www.1001fonts.com/bazaronite-font.html
  20. BoltBait's plugin pack is, IMHO, essential and could hardly be desribed as only having "a few plugins":- https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/113220-boltbaits-plugin-pack-for-pdn-v41-and-beyond-updated-december-1-2018/ I've not counted but there are at least 40 plugins and other things many of which are very useful rather than just potentially or occasionally useful. MadJik's plugin pack also has lots of useful stuff:- https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/7186-madjik-all-plugins-last-updated-2018-04-07/ Red Ochre and Ed Harvey amongst many others have plugin sets and individual plugins I would not want to be without. I'd also argue that you can have too much choice - if you need a tool/plugin to create a particular image by all means find and install it but just how many plugins of a genuinely comprehensive set would you actually need let alone use? You'll spend all your time playing with them, trying them out, getting diverted from your original purpose to either good or bad ends. Lack of choice can be a spur to creativity. For years using PDN I just stuck to the default tools and effects and there are still many of those I've never used yet still managed to create the images I wanted too. Sometimes later I've even found out that I had a plugin that would have made certain tasks simpler but because that plugin was somewhere in a list of fifty plus effects I didn't even realise it. But I still came up with solutions using the tools I did know about.
  21. With the text in a separate layer an important or at least useful tip I think Elvis Hbpbgrtnk is alluding too, something that has been mentioned before in this forum, is to use the text layer name to record the font used, its size, hex colour, bold/italic etc. It can save a hell of a lot of trouble when you return to an old image if you've saved a backup as a .pdn file with all the layers separate and text layer(s) all properly identified like that.
  22. With PDN it is, as other have described here, very easy. I do this quite often myself to see if the changes I've made look OK and actually improve the picture. Just expand the primary canvas to be able to accommodate both pictures side by side, copy in the second image then use the Move Selected Pixels tool to relocate it beside the primary image. As IRON67 suggested too I always put it in a separate layer above the primary one so any changes made are only applied to the primary image being worked on..
  23. You can choose whatever size font you want - it can be as big as you like, within certain limits. In PDN select Text and the go to the font selection and size (default Calibri 12pt) tool bar options. The font size in that box is actually editable. Just click on the actual box to highlight the font size (12) and change it to 1000 or whatever you need using the keyboard to see the differences you're interested in. As said there are limits and some fonts might not display well when significantly enlarged or reduced. If the Text cursor is still active any previous text you typed will also apply the new font/size so you can quite easily swap between fonts and sizes to see the effect on a particular body of text.
  24. Love the English language ^ - even with incorrect grammar, bad spelling and limited vocabulary the meaning and enthusiasm of the poster still shines through.
