Alright, thank you for your help! I guess I will have to create it all over again....

I was working on a drawing to go with a story I was writing for school. This drawing took me hours to complete. My drawing was complete and I went to save it. Clicking on the save button, my computer notified me with a message: "Paint.net is running into some issues..." I tried to close out of the message, pressing the cancel button to revoke my request to save and the program crashed, before I could save it. I am wondering if it is gone forever or if there is a way to get it back. It was pretty important and it took a lot of work to complete. Thank you for your help in advance!
