I like having Smudge, but I don't get it to work very well, I can't adjust the lightness, length, or shape of the Smudge. Is there something else needed to get it to work? Well I'd like to have the same kind of effect a rolled bit of soft material has for a chalk or pencil drawing. I'd like to be able to do a long narrow line as well as a broad light fade.

The slider is happy to go below 100%, all the way to 0% if you like, and still paints solid. I guess I should reinstall, hope it goes away... ;-)

When I use either the brush or cloning stamp the hardness is always 100%, no matter what level I set. Is there some setting I don't know of? Is there a cure anyone knows? The image shows use of the Brush at what says 15% Hardness, with Solid and 10% Fill Do I need to switch to another more stable version? I'm using V 4.09 with Microsoft 10.
