  1. I dropped back 1 and installed dotNET 4.5.1 and that seems to have fixed the problem. Go figure.
  2. Thanks, but that was the very first thing I tried coupled with the "run as administrator" trick even though I'm the only one using the computer.
  3. Since nobody seems to have an answer for me, I will choose the last resort of using a disk backup I had previously saved and forego paint.net installation.
  4. Thanks for your reply. My poor explanation should have indicated that what I tried, and succeeded, to repair was the .Net installation. The exception came after that.
  5. Every time I tried to install paintdotnet the program wanted to install dotNET 4.5.2 even though I have it already. It always failed, so I tried to repair it using files on my computer and got past that problem but then it threw this exception (see attachment). Please tell me how to fix this. Win7 Service pack 1 AVG Internet Security
