  1. I wasn't implying that he used a stock texture; you can easily make your own. I was simply stating that I never thought to 'texturize' my ball. I did not mean to get anyone in an uproar!
  2. Thank you @welshblue for the beautiful comment! Both of those pics are the power of G'mic plugin.
  3. Congrats to everyone! All soccer balls were great. But MJW's was perfect. I never thought to use a texture. Thank you to @Pixey for the hosting!
  4. Love your outcome with gimp @dipstick. There are so many variations. Klaxxon's technique gives you a cleaner, sharper highlight. Mine, from Plastic Text is more blurred, but both look good. Many different ways to achieve highlights! πŸ˜‰
  5. Very nice tutorial @klaxxon I really love the technique used. Wonderful adaptation of the PS tut. It's a bit of a weird font...I don't really care for the e's, but most of the other letters are nicely rounded. It's almost summer, so I thought I'd go with this: Thank you!
  6. Aurora is very much like an emerald @JulioCoolio! Your works are always so colorful! Well done.
  7. WOW! @Reptillian you've been very, very busy indeed! Very much appreciated! πŸ‘Š
  8. Thank you @ReMake for the rep on my very first gallery post!
  9. I love the shades of pink! Very harmonious! Well done.
  10. Thank you @JulioCoolio for the nice words about my latest. Very appreciated!
  11. The theme this week is – "A Desert Scene" Chosen by ( @MJW SOTW #202 winner) This week you're challenged to design and create a signature to look like β€˜A Desert Scene’. Examples can be viewed here. The deadline for entries is 7:00 pm (UK time) 2:00 pm (EDT) on Saturday, June 1st, 2019. To see how that equates to other countries, here is a link to the World Time Competition Rules Max dimensions are 500 x 200. Please NOTE: The forum limits signatures to 500 x 150, if it is too large do not try to use it as your regular signature. Please keep your signature family-friendly. Please keep to the theme that has been set. You may modify or replace your image until the deadline! Don’t violate copyright laws with found images; links to source images would be courteous. Your entry must be made using Paint.net; please don't use an outside image editor and try passing it off as PDN work. There are three entries per entrant allowed. Don’t add links to larger versions of your signature. Your entry should be voted on based on the size laid out in rule #1. Please keep larger versions of your work for your gallery. Signatures may be either horizontal or vertical. The winner of the current SOTW gets to choose the subject for the next competition. Good luck all and thank you in advance for entering. Thanks to - chrisco97, Sozo, TheHowler, Nitenurse79, Chimay, DrewDale & Pixey for keeping this comp going in the past. Previous comps have included the following topics as listed Here compiled by MJW. This list will perhaps assist future winners with a theme. This thread is for posting your entries only. If you want to talk about any of the entries, you can do so in the discussion thread found here.
  12. Thank you @doughty and @klaxxon for the reps! And thank you @Woodsy for updating the PDF!
  13. Loving this @ishani! Very interesting how the mask can be used in different ways. Different layers using Genesis and added drop shadow for a finish.
  14. Added additional steps for a different 'finished' look.
  15. Congratulations to the winners! 1st Place: is @MJW with 8 votes 2nd Place: is @Woodsy with 5 votes 3rd Place: is @lynxster4 with 3 votes Great entries from everyone! πŸ’₯ @MJW your copper piping with valve is absolutely perfect (solder and all). Well done!
  16. @ishani Does it have to be a .TIFF file for the mask? Can pngs be used? Thanks.
  17. @ReMake, as soon as I saw this I thought of C4 and wanted to blow something up...🀣 Here's my take on your very good tutorial adaptation: Thank you for posting it!
  18. Doesn't hurt to do more than one @Seerose! Both are fabulous! I'm glad to see that this tutorial is of some interest to forum members.
  19. Very nice outcome @klaxxon! At least you will be ready for the upcoming holidays! Additional thanks to @Maximilian, @Pixey and @Seerose for the reps!
  20. @HyReZ, @Pixey and @Seerose What great outcomes! All have a distinct 'style' to them! Fist Bump to you all! πŸ‘Š πŸ˜† (get to Pixey and Seerose tomorrow...ran out of reps) 😲
  21. Thank you @Woodsy for the PDF! I'm glad you will find this tut useful! 😊 Thank you @barbieq25! Thank you @dipstick! I'm vaguely aware of that plugin...I really don't use GIMP. The above tutorial was inspired by this PS tutorial. I just got rid of the 'sticker' part and added a lot of my own. Maybe one of our coding geniuses could come up with something. Any takers? The tut is very flexible in that you can make your 'shine' spots really any size you want. I kept mine on the thinner side. Was your example above made with the Gimp plugin? Looks really good! Thank you @ReMake for the rep!
  22. This tutorial is available as a PDF. Click here to view or download it In perusing the text effects I realized we didn't have any plastic-looking text, so I made one. We will be making this: Plugins required: Align Object Inner Shadow Selection Edge Expander AA's Assistant EdgeShaderMJW Contour BlurBlend Here's another example: This is Alba 288 Bold. I had to adjust the settings, but it's perfectly doable. I duplicated the text layer again and ran Pyro's Trail on the bottom layer, set the top layer to Multiply 130 and ran BoltBait's Feather on each layer. Here are some additional steps to achieve what I call 'The Fluffy Sticker' effect. Use this on text where you have applied Pyro's Trail plugin on the bottom layer. Start with your layered PDN file or do the tutorial from the beginning. Here are some examples: There are probably lots of ways to apply a colored plastic coating to the letters. This one turns out the best, I think. Experiment! Added note: On the above screenshots showing Gradient Galore plugin I made a notation in red. The reason is I was avoiding the dark green and black color you get if your size is set at default or higher. Just didn't look right. I hope you enjoy this tutorial! πŸ˜ƒ
