  1. I have a strip of world flags, which I got hold of a few years ago. They were all separate and I needed them in a long strip, so I painstakingly stuck them all together in paint.net. The problem is, as time has gone on, I need to update a couple of the flags, e.g Libya (has a new flag) and Northern Ireland (didn't have a flag in the set, so I just used the English flag). Now I can easily get hold of the new flags and just paste them over the old one, but there are a couple of minor effects on the existing flag set that I don't know how to replicate. Here are two flags to show the old set and my newly pasted flag. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/112519761/2flags.png As you can see, the North Korean flag on the left has some sort of fading, going from lighter at the top to darker at the bottom. I've tried messing around with gradients but I can't really replicate it properly. It also has a single-pixel light square around the edge of the flag which mine doesn't. Again, I don't know how to replicate this. I'm not asking for someone to do it for me, because I need to update the Libya flag too and as flags change over the years, I'd like to know how to do this myself. Could anyone give me a few pointers on how I achieve these two effects on my flags?
  2. I've been away from Paint.net for a few months, and I've just installed the very latest version .. 4.0.4? So I have a game-sprite and I'm trying to delete all of the transparent areas around the edge. Easy enough, in the past I'd just select the area with magic wand, hit delete and it would clear the area, leaving the chequer-board pattern behind. It still does that, but when I save the image and load it in to my editor, the transparency has gone. If I cut and paste it into my editor, the same happens. Also, when I shut down Paint.net and reload the image, again the transparency has gone and I have the white edges again. Presumably, this is a change in the newer versions. What I am doing wrong?
  3. Thanks, I can confirm that the download is safe. Paint.net is installed and working fine and no problems
  4. I adore Paint.net, it's easily the best paint program I've used. Unfortunately, the last time I downloaded it, I received malware and some very invasive browser toolbar addons (much worse than malware). After several hours trying to remove them, I had to uninstall Windows and reinstall, losing Paint.net in the process. Is the download from the official page fully checked and guaranteed safe? I didn't get it from here last time (downloads.net I think) but it's been a while so I can't be sure.
