  1. If you make a circle in paintDOTnet one pixel thick you get a blurred line, at is tried to spread the top, bottom and sides of the circle over 2 pixels not one... The word is that this is hard to fix, in a previous post the suggestion was to make a 2 pixel with circle twice the desired size and shrink the image, but the result will still be fuzzy if you don't get the pixels aligned correctly both vertically and horizontally, this was an awkward horrible solution... I had found that make the circle 2 pixels thick and using a white circle to cover over half the thickness resulted in a nice result, easier that the other solution, faster, but still much harder than idea... But, as long as you want the circle to be black... I have found the easiest answer!!! Just click on the paint brush tool, and make the paint brush size the size you want circle, it draws a perfect 1 pixel width circle! You just need to take a screen shot of the circle (hit print screen), paste it into a new image, and retrieve your circle! Actually, another way that I just realized is that you can just use the brush to draw a solid circle, then without moving your pointer, reduce the brush size twice and press to paint with the right click or background colour... If you are doing this in a multiply layer this won't even wipe out stuff on other layers and the white won't be seen...
  2. Nah, that's not it. Nothing can be done with that window to make it work right again. Luckily it is not frequent.
  3. I have had I think other variations of this glitch, honestly I don't put much thought into it. Often when this has happened, maybe just because it's how I use mu computer a lot of the time, I will be low on memory, have lots of paint canvases open and have lots of other things open as well. But, now it has happened with few paint canvasses and about half to a 3rd as many chrome tabs as I have at times... The problem, which currently is that I can't select something in one of the canvasses, the function simply doesn't, function. I am copy copy is all (ctrl + A) and paste into a new canvas and then I can select just a portion, but in that canvas, that function simply does not work. I do recall I have had at other time different glitches, one time it was that nothing new showed in a canvas, even though the changes were being applied. Other times I think it has been other things. But this glitch only seems to affect one canvas, or sometimes a few, but never all the canvasses. Heck, I'm starting to wonder if this is more not a glitch but a strength of the problem, after all it's not a single glitch it is many glitches with an easy solution seemingly.
  4. This problem affects me, and I just found the easiest way to solve it with just one extra step! Make a circle with a 2 Pixel width line, then change the colour of the tool to the background colour (or you could even select overwrite and transparent) and make a 2 pixel width circle that is just smaller or just larger, concentrically with the first circle such that it wipes out half the width of the the first circle! This only takes a moment and you are left with what looks to be identical to what you probably would have got with the method Rick suggests, only MUCH easier! I know because I try that at times and it really takes some bother to get things just right. I just checked and the results are very similar, but not identical to the method Rick suggests, the line has the appearance of being a 0.95 pixel width if we are to assume the other method gives a 1 pixel width circle, but honestly it's not a readily visible difference unless you zoom in.

  6. So, version 1.2.1 at the above mentioned thread has the right feature. If you don't like the way the plugin treats the main image, then you can always put the unadjusted version in another layer and then erase the parts you don't want of whichever one is on top with the eraser set on a 9 hardness so it fades in the difference.
  7. This could help in cases where someone wants to cut something out of a plain background... Sort of like a green screen filter. Heck, maybe there is a plugin for that? Only with partial transparency so it is like the white balance where it's not all or nothing like a floodfill, it can add an influence and not just dominate.
  8. That plugin lives here, maybe a more likely to be safe version can be found there. But I honestly doubt I have a virus. So ignore that one!
  9. WTF??? The link, which is a normal link, when I paste it it shows up as "I have a virus on my system"?? If that a warning about that host? Does that plugin source infect plugins with viruses and this is the messageboards way of warning? Or a bad joke? But only the text to the link is corrupted, the link still works, but should you use it? Well I hope the plugin is safe, it works and does a good job. Incidentally, if the source for that plugin can be found, it should not be hard to make an option to make the white or black balance to be an alpha channel transparenct ballance as an option. This would be more useful than just white-balance.
  10. So I thought that there MUST be a better way, and I found it... <snip> I will also attach it just to create another backup of the plugin, but it's brilliant. So what you do is you set the primary pallet colour to what you want to become white, which in this case was the blue aura aroud the lion, you want to get a decently dark shade. Then just open the plugin, for this the default setting of "absoluteblackandwhite" did best. This gave a perfect and effortless result! The next question I percieve is how to best set white as the transparent (alpha channel) colour with partial transparency... I know there will be a plugin for that surely, but I don't know which.
  11. Here is my result, and how I went about it. I used the wand tool and tuned it to select the remaining blue. I used the hue/saturation tool, and reduced it to zero saturation. Then I used curves tool to change the cgrey to white, took a little playing around. Then i used the pen tool on while and zero hardness, this fixed a few areas. This worked well as there was not much saturation in the selected hair, so it's not really missed. But the result was the best way of a few attempts. Obviously it takes a bit if tuning and playing around to find the right setting for each tool.

  13. I have found that this functionality used to exist in the polar inversion plugin, but it was removed! Can this be rectified? Why was this plugin hobbled?
  14. This no longer seems possible, the plugin has been ruined so it no longer provides such an effect.
  15. I can find records of a plugin called "Rec to polar conversion" or something, but I can't find it. The current polar inversions plugin does not seem suited to bending the likes of a panoramic photo into a circle. To be crystal clear, what I want to do is to have something like say a bunch text bent into a circle. The current polar inversion plugin does not seem suited to do this no matter what I try, it does not keep the text size constant. Update: I tried the rec to polar plugin, but it was no good. Also, i found a plugin that works on text, but that won't actually suit my purposes (without making a custom font)
  16. Hi, I don't know how to make shapes, maybe I'll learn. But until then I think there should be a thread with requested shapes, which people can add more requests to, and also if those skilled want to, may make the requested shapes. So first off I would like to request septagon, octagon, as well as 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 1, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 gon's With the lower numbers being more useful and of a higher priority. Next the same treatment with stars, but there is an added detail with stars as for each number of points there are multiple different choices for the lines. Next, a few spirals, IF spirals are even possible as then aren't by default a closed shape (unless it traces back over itself), but there could be a number of different spiral types, one with a constant change or those that expand as a multiple (like a Phi spiral). Obviously spirals are better handled by a plugin but I haven't found a good one for them. A flower of life or some other repeating matrix would be cool, there are several repeating matrices that can be looked up online. I coil, which is to say a loop-de-loop type shape a plane makes, like the diagrammatic image of a coil _0_0_0_ Albeit only one loop would need to be made, but I just realized again this is not a closed shape, much like the spiral.
  17. LOVE the changes, I noticed the rounded rectangle was fixed (never looked ok with one pixel width before), then I looked here and saw overscroll was made optional, be still my heart. Hey if I'm gonna complain when it changes for the worse, I'm gonna be classy enough to thank and praise when it changes for the better. BTW I was just wondering why there isn't a change tool, like a paint brush like tool that with left/right click sharpens/softens, increases/decreases hue or saturation or lightness/contrast or allows someone to paint with a selected hue or or. I wouldn't even use it much personally but it just feel like it is the main component that feels missing. If these have been suggested, that's fine, I guess they have. So probably ignore.
  18. Again, I ask. What does overscroll do that a "frame" you can toggle on and off around the canvass (or maybe even change the size of said frame) wouldn't do? It seems to be that's all overscroll is, a border around the canvas, an extension to the canvass you can move around but not draw on. Well, just make such an extension toggled on and off with a button, simple! It sounds so simple I almost think I could code it and I can't code Not counting ASM on the C64. Indeed what was stopping those who wanted overscroll from adding a temporary border around their image in the first place?
  19. Here is an idea, return the program to how it used to work, but have a button to toggle a border around the image! If the button is pressed it adds some non-editable (no memory usage) background looking space to the sides of the image, press the button again and the framing disappears. I mean, basically that is all overscroll is (isn't it?), it is like making an image larger, increasing the canvas size and only allowing drawing in the middle. Though for some reason the zoom has been messed with so the patch you click on no longer becomes the center of the zoomed image, instead the image floats around in an almost random fashion to the top left of the screen for reasons I cannot fathom.
  20. I do not understand the point of overscroll either with one exception... When trying to adjust a curve's points, if it is near the edge of the screen/image, I will be unable to move the control points far enough to get the curve I want. But this is pretty minor and generally I just drag the line to another spot, move the points and reposition it for finishing touches. If the only other advantage is "not looking to the edge of the screen", I think this is totally insufficient for the frustration this causes. Maybe overscroll could be implemented differently? I bet more users are annoyed by it than delighted.

MJW, it's not really needed for my work, but I was thinking that an ideal one would have settings for CMY as well as RGB so it acted as a continuum, so that a given brightness of any hue could (if adjusted so all were at the same value) go to the same value of white/grey. So if you applied this to the colour wheel, instead of 3 bright patches with the cross over colours C, M & Y, it would be the same all around, or by setting the CMY differently to the RGB it could be accentuated or de-emphasized the effect of mixed colours. But I have no idea how hard this would be to do as it will impact every shade of colour mix differently. So please ignore this idea if not easy (or either way).
