  1. I chose "OPEN" from the File menu and got a very long list of files that have nothing to do with what I'm looking for! Somewhere in the pile of strange files that I don't need, my files are hidden. My poor vision makes it nearly impossible to find this stuff. Is there any way to get a clear list of ALL the files I created, (like the recent list), (which only has 8 files listed)? Any help will be very much appreciated.
  2. I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean. If you mean "grow" the image, I don't think that'll work.
  3. I need to add that I tried changing the print-settings. Choosing "cropped" only cut off part of the image! At first the image looked too small. Now it's too big. Nothing seemed to give me what I had on the screen.
  4. I designed a business card for somebody. On the screen, the image is centered and just the right size. But when I made a hard copy, it looks all wring... because the paper is bigger than the screen. Now the image looks too small. There's no border to show where the business card actually ends. Does anyone know how I can correct this?
  5. It seems that sometimes an image I have, is antialiased and sometimes not. I tried turning AA off on the line/curve tool but that didn't work. Is there a way to turn AA on and off for my image so I can modify it slightly? The image is just solid colored text free-hand drawn.
  6. How do I make a rectangle or square, filled in with a solid color, and with no outline? When I made a square, and filled it with a color, there was an outline. Thanx in advance for any help.
  7. I wanna thank all of you for your really great responses! I have to process them now! But at the same time, I have one more question. I have a letter 'O' that's one pixel too tall… I need to make it a pixel shorter. But even if I could resize it by only one pixel by using the arrow keys and dragging, that would change the thickness of the line. What I'd like to know is, is there a way to resize the 'O,' without changing the line thickness. And do I have to do it by dragging nubs? That's nearly impossible! Isn't there a way to do it on the keyboard, maybe with the arrow keys or something?
  8. I'm good with visual art and I can compose music... but almost everything else is a problem for me. I'm using what I call "the brute-force" method to create a logo for a friend who has her own company... No tools. (Except the ability to undo, and maybe the bucket fill tool.) I can't see well enough to use the line / curve tool. The handles are too small. I drew the name of the company free-hand with a tablet. But because I can't grasp the concept of how to choose the settings when opening a file, I could be headed for a massive train wreck! Sometimes a new file opens with what looks like a very small canvas. And sometimes my images look anti-aliased, and other time, not. Could someone please give me a step by step way to choose the settings when I open a new file? I'm able to follow straight forward linier instructions. 1. Do this. 2. Do this! 3. Press this key... ...etc., etc. ... I have nowhere else to go with these crazy problems! Any help will be very much appreciated. It doesn't matter how long the instructions are... my brain works like a simple computer. I can do exactly what you tell me to do, but anything implied, I may miss. (Aspergers syndrome.) Sorry, the list of disabilities I "came with" is very long! I'm trying to keep working in spite of all the bloody potato!
  9. If I use the UNDO command, will I only be able to undo for the current session? I just opened the program and started to work. I did some stuff I shouldn't've. So if I just hold down CTRL+Z, will that only undo what I did today? I don't want to change anything from yesterday. Thanx in advance for any help...
  10. I'm making a logo for someone by hand-drawing a font I made up. But because I was having trouble drawing a perfect letter 'O', I'm using the "Circle/Ellipse" tool to do it. I drew an 'O' with that tool that's almost the right size... and I wanna draw another one just a little shorter... but I can't figure out how to place the completed new shape directly over the old one. I don't know where to start the action with the tool! The completed shape always ends up in the wrong place. Can anyone tell me how to get my finished shape to complete just where I want it to? (Re-sizing the shape won't work because that changes the thickness of the line I used for the letter 'O'.)
  11. This has had me totally confused right from the beginning. I'm severely dyslexic and end up taking shots in the dark to at least get the canvas to a size where I can draw on it! The last thing I did when a new file came up with a ridiculously small canvas was just magnify it so I could paste an image on it... but the program is still "working" after minutes. It's as if I gave it an undoable task! There's a small "diagram" or something at the bottom of the Canvas Size window. Might that be a way for me to adjust canvas size without dealing with all those numbers? I'm trying to design a logo... and I at least need the canvas to come up the same size each time I open a new file. I don't understand why, even though I typed 4000 pixels, it came up smaller than the previous file set at 600, 800!!!! I don't know what numbers to type! Can someone please help me.
  12. When using the Line / Curve tool, I tend to cause a line to "finish" becsue when I try to click on a handle to bend the line, I miss, (due to poor vision)... and the line can no longer be adjusted. Is there a way to cause the handles to re-appear so I can complete the line the way I need to? "Undo" only makes the line disappear, and I have to start all over. Any help will be very much appreciated.
  13. I mention dyslexia a lot because people tend not to understand why I may not be able to grasp something that's simple to most people. I donno why this happened but I opened a NEW file and the size came up really wierd. Rather then going into all the details of what may be going on, could somebody maybe give me some numbers to enter for resolution and canvas size and stuff for what I'm trying to create? I'm designing a logo for a friend who has her own company. I just can't seem to grasp all the details having to do with rez, canvas size, pixels, inches etc., etc., etc. ... I can create good art but I have problems with almost everything else. Pretty yucky, hah?!
  14. OK, I answered too soon! It was the tolerance... and my poor vision. I thought another thingie at the top of the screen was the tolerance. But when I used my Coke-bottle glasses, (the google-goggles), I found the tolerance. And because I didn't know what was going on, I failed to mention that the word in question was colored with a light color. The other words were darker. So I guess the PaintBucket tool didn't notice the difference in color. It didn't see that word. Thanx for the help. Unfortunately, I'll be back the next time I don't see something and everything goes KOO-KOO. Om glad you guys are here.
  15. Nothing seems to work for that partucular word. It's as if that word is on another layer! But I don't see it on another layer! Maybe it's the PAINT.NET software and not mee?
  16. I have all other layers turned off. I'm on the only layer that's turned on. There are some words on that layer that I made with the text tool. The text tool is turned off now. I tried to change the color of one word with the paint bucket tool but the only thing that happens is the whole layer gets filled in. Other words on tat layer get filled normally. Can anyone tell me what might be going on? Low vision and dyslexia may be the reason these things happen to me sometimes. Thanx in advance for any help with this.
